Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.

en I'm pretty confident we'll be a solid third at conference. Loyola and Rosary are two of the top five teams in state. It wouldn't be a bad thing to finish third behind those two teams at conference.

en They have concluded they can't compete directly with the Yankees and Red Sox for resources (i.e. expensive players). But they realized there are ways to compete with the other middle-of-the-pack teams to make it to the World Series and win it.

en I think he came into this season as someone who flew under the radar. That certainly wasn't the case with us, but I think it was with opposing teams. He's had some nagging injuries during his career that haven't always allowed his talent to come through. This year he's built himself up and the injuries have stayed away.

en There was no disappointment with this year's squad. We played tough all season and we were right there with the best teams. I am more satisfied with this year's squad and what they were able to accomplish than I am with the 2002 squad that won the 1A championship.

en We haven't been going full contact near as much, and we're not down to just the first teams practicing (because injuries eliminated the depth). The second and third teams are getting reps now. We've taken huge steps this year. We wanted people to get out here, and they have.

en We're the only two teams playing out of 119. It's the only two undefeated teams in the country. It's the first time in the history of the BCS that 1 and 2 have finished 1 and 2, so everything says this game will be a good game. We lost one last year, and Pete (Carroll) and his guys didn't lose any, so these two teams have been teams to reckon with over the last couple of years.

en This boy's team seems to be really coming along. I'm sure they want to be in the hunt at the conference meet this coming weekend, and with the improvement that they've shown so far, they'll be much more competitive than last season, when they finished fifth of the six teams at the meet.

en It's always nice to win at home. The guys are looking really good right now. Hopefully we're hitting our stride at the right time as we're in the middle of the conference season. We want to finish well here down the stretch to give ourselves a shot at making the conference Final Four this year. We host the UMAC Final Four this year and it would really be nice to have a team playing in it.

en That was probably the year that stands out for me. You put [Lopez and Galarraga] in the middle of our lineup for a full season, we could compete with anyone.
