en We gave up six runs in one inning (fourth) and that really hurt. We hit three batters, had two walks, a passed ball and they got two hits. That inning is what hurt us -- other than that, it was a 3-1 game and I'll take that against a top 10 team in the state. We should be feeling better about how we can compete.

en He gave up three soft hits in the first inning and didn't give up much after that. He gave us what we needed. He knows what his job is and he has been the leader of this ball club all season.

en When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

en The thing I liked was our consistency at the plate. We scored six runs in the first inning, and we had seven hits in a row. We have been waiting until the third or fourth inning to get our hits, but today we started right away.

en We're getting down to a few numbers where we can work it a little easier and not try to get everyone in. We want to start stretching out our players and take a good look at some of these guys that are battling each other and battling for positions on this team.

en I thought in the second inning we had some really big hits and that kind of set the tone for the game. It was great to see some guys come through with some clutch hitting. I think we showed that we're capable of being a good offensive team when everybody's clicking and swinging the bats the way that they can.

en You can't make a mistake against that club like we did in the fifth inning. I don't know who was calling (for the ball), but obviously you need to catch that ball.

en It was 3-1 going into the sixth and we pulled them together and said we're right there with them. Just to keep battling. That's what we did. We pieced it together and in the seventh, they walked some, we put the ball in play and had some key hits.
