My partner Heather was grilled by hospital staff over and over about who she was and why she was there when I was in the hospital for breast cancer surgery. We never would have had to go through such an ordeal if we were only able to be married. We're grateful that our case has finally made its way to the Court of Appeals, and hope the court will recognize how badly families like ours get hurt when we're denied the protections of marriage.

I didn't want to be at just one hospital. There would surely be enough general surgery, but in the colon/rectal surgery it was an advantage to go to hospital to hospital so we could get in on all the big, interesting cases.

This law has only been used two times - both times in the AT&T antitrust case - so it's rarely, rarely used. The longer it sits at the Court of Appeals, the less likely the Supreme Court is to take it on an expedited basis. To the extent that the Court of Appeals really starts to get their teeth into this, they could jump on this right away.

While we respect the court, we disagree with the court's decision and we look forward to taking our case to the Court of Appeals.

Tennessee cannot pick and choose who among its residents is allowed to speak freely. We are hopeful that the Supreme Court will recognize that only allowing an anti-choice plate violates free speech rights and that the appeals court will prevent production of the plate while the case is under review.

The justices clearly exercised admirable judicial restraint. They recognize that the Legislature has the proper authority to make the decisions regarding marriage. I wouldn't want to predict what the Court of Appeals would do.

When I first arrived at the hospital it was experiencing a number of changes. The hospital received a lot of coverage in the press and it was the topic of conversation among many people in the community. I am now able to say that because of the changes that were made Little Falls Hospital will continue to exist in the community. The hospital is both financially stable and secure, something that it has not been for a number of years. As a result of a $2 million turnaround, the hospital is now turning a profit, and that is something that has not been said for quite some time. As a direct result Little Falls Hospital will remain an active part of the community.

The proponents of Proposition 22 say that (it) doesn't deny hospital visitation or inheritance rights for lesbians and gays, ... But in Florida and Virginia, arch-conservative legal organizations have used similar laws as tools in court to deny lesbians and gays fundamental rights -- like the right to visit a sick or injured partner in the hospital, the right to inheritance, or the right to health insurance.

The Court of Criminal Appeals is widely considered to be one of the most conservative appellate courts in the world. Not one judge on that court decided that the state's appeal was worth considering. Obviously believing as the First Court of Appeals did, that when you pay thousands of dollars to a hired gun, that the least they can do is come in and tell the truth.

Of course we're disappointed in this ruling that the state can continue to deny same-sex couples the protections of marriage, but this case is far from over. As we've known all along, this issue will ultimately be decided by New York's highest court.

Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone.

We look forward to the day soon when the Court of Appeals will resolve this question once and for all. We cant wait for our day in court when the state constitution will be upheld and the rights of these families will be honored.

We are asking for a rehearing on the decision by the appeals court, and if that fails we have the option of going to the Supreme Court, so the case is not over,

[The] decision brings to an end years of wasted court resources brought about by a fringe group of people opposed to even the most basic protections for thousands of California families headed by same-sex couples. We look forward to the day when all families are treated fairly under the law in California, and that day will be when marriage becomes equally available to all committed couples.
