I don't really like ordspråk

I don't really like to run. I like the hurdles, but I would much rather stick to the field events. That's what I concentrate on.

I think he's the perfect example of what we've tried to do. Track and field is built around the 400 runner. You take him from there to the jumps and hurdles. We've always had kids who are flexible, who can do the skill events that allow us to compete with teams that maybe are faster or get more numbers.

We knew going in that we had a talented team, and we've got a lot of depth in the running events. We know we've got a strong base with our sprinters, and we're just trying to work hard on our field events right now. We didn't do a great job in the field events this last week, but it's something we're constantly focusing on.

Every time we've been talking, he says to concentrate on my hurdles (the final step and bounce on the end of the diving board before doing a dive).

On beam it was hard to concentrate. It didn't take affect on other events, but it was hard to concentrate because the cheering was so loud.

The boys' strengths will be the field events and the relays. The girls' strengths will be the relays and hurdles. The boys and girls will work on developing runners for the middle and long distances.

We recognize there are a lot of events that are converging at this very moment, but we don't see them as linked and we don't see them as a crisis. We see them as hurdles that we obviously will need to overcome.

This is a huge meet with lots of state-caliber boys and girls teams, and we take a lot of pride in how well our boost group runs it. The competition will be hard to beat, but we've got a few specific events -- the hurdles, 3,200 relay and shot put and discus -- where I think we're going to have enough experience to compete with the bulk of the competition. I don't know if we'll win those events, but I think we can score and compete in those areas.

We had a real good day in the field events. We won five of seven field events.

He's had a lot of things on and off the field that he's had to deal with over the years. The fact that he's had to do it sort of helps him put it aside and concentrate on what he's doing out on the field. It certainly can't be a lot of fun for him.

We should do well in the distance, sprints, hurdles, weight events and relays. Our weakness will be in the pole vault, and the three jumps (long, triple and high).

I'm going to have to stick with the 300 hurdles. There's not a lot of people who can do it and do it well. That makes me strive to be able to do it. My coach told me if I can do that, I can do anything. I always strive to be the best.

We knew we have to get a big lead in field events. We just can do what we can do tomorrow. (Vikings) are tough in the track events.

It just really helps having all those points coming out of the field events. It gives us a little bit of a cushion to start the running events.

Coach Bill Galloway does a great job with our field events. We got a lot of points in those events.
