People always love the ordspråk

People always love the crab feed. It's a down-to-earth community event and everyone works really hard to make it a success.

This was our second crab feed and we hope to make it an annual event. The funds raised by the music boosters go for new equipment, trips and scholarships.

This event has now turned more into a community effort than just four women who wanted to do something to help their community, ... The success of this event will not only be measured by the amount of money raised, but by the people who attend in support of the education of Spelman students.

Today is my first official day and already I have been bombarded by the alumni who have made me feel so welcome. The people I have met are just so energetic about the success, and if I could just feed off of their energy and love for Howard, I will be able to achieve success.

Overall, the event was a great success. The Isla Vista community enjoyed the festivities, bands and info. booths while coming together to celebrate the earth.

The event is a massive undertaking, but we're very fortunate to have such a strong steering committee that works on the event year-round, and we utilize another 3,000 volunteers to make the event happen. Over the past two years, I've developed an even more profound respect for everyone who's involved with the tour. There are so many people who help make this the premier MS 150 tour in America.

[This summer they were on a tight deadline for the next Tom Douglas cookbook — working title:] I Love Crab Cakes. ... I think I'll be really sick of crab.

It's up to the community to make this event a success. People don't have to do anything out of the ordinary to participate. They aren't required to give any extra. All you have to do to participate is go out to eat in one of our wonderful area restaurants.

Laura's been a pleasure to coach because she's so intelligent and she works so hard, ... Sometimes she works too hard. Working hard for success has transferred over to our other runners, too, so I'm kind of glad I've got her for two more years.

We'll have to see how it goes, ... We'd love to see a future (for the event) based on the investment we've made in the sport. We want to make every effort to make this a long-term success.

Joie Chitwood (1912-)

I love Akron's event. There's no doubt that they've used a strategic approach to what the event stands for: community, arts, celebration and the New Year. When all the components are running full tilt, it's a successful event.

Our first event was a tremendous hit. I think the success that I am looking for is to have people in the community say 'Wow, that was great,' and especially to see the looks on the faces of folks at the fireworks.

I can't say enough about D.J. [Hernandez]. He's the hardest worker. I love D.J. not only for how hard he works but for the kid he is. His work ethic is just amazing to me. I can't put into words just how hard he works on things. I was talking to him the other night. I said 'D.J., you're me four years ago.' And he said 'No, I'm me.' And it was a good response. It was good to hear that. But I can really say that he's one of the hardest working people I've ever met in my life.

It's our No. 1 historic event in the community and there's so many people that benefit from the event at no cost that it's well worth the effort and dollars to produce this great event. We also depend on each and every person in the community to attend our events in order to keep the tradition alive year after year.

Currently, the green crab is viewed only as a pest species, ... The crab tends to eat what we eat. It's incredibly tough. And generally speaking, its presence in the water means fewer clams and lobsters. So, we'd like to turn around these negatives and make them into a positive.
