The objective of this study was to determine the relative prevalence of diabetes and related cardiovascular diseases among overweight and inactive adults in a population representative of the nation. Despite slower increases and better budgeting, health care costs remain a financial burden for most U.S. employers. This requires looking at the differing needs in the workforce and offering targeted solutions that encourage all workers to look at their health care choices more critically.

I'm for anything that lets people come here to work legally. There are more protections for workers who are here legally than for those who are not. It's also safer for the workers and employers have a more consistent pool of workers.

Healthier employees mean happier employees. There's less absenteeism, improved productivity and lowered health care premium costs.

If you hit this stuff on the preventive end, people are going to be happier, healthier, there will be more productivity and less absenteeism and they will use [health] services less. It's the use of services that drive costs.
