Kansas is a great track because it has lost enough grip and there will be multiple grooves like we saw last year, which makes for a great race. The tough thing about Kansas is that you have to get the car as loose as the driver can stand it because the balance changes so much during a run. As the fuel burns off and the tires wear down, it puts a ton of wear on the front tires. This is the type of track where the front tires get a work out.

Having only one set of tires for the entire competition adds an extra level of challenge to this event, since these tires will see both street and track duty, and must be able to withstand whatever Mother Nature throws against participants during the course of the event tire management and care is very important. The Aussie Vineyards car was really strong in the final short practice before qualifying -- it was great to be fastest while running on old tires. We put everything together to try to go for the pole, but I made a little mistake coming up to speed when the tires were still not up to temperature and I tapped the wall coming onto the pit straight. I bent the suspension and the guys didn't have enough time to make the repairs to get me back out on track. I feel pretty sad although it is probably my first mistake of the year. It is probably worse for me because it happened here at my home track.

The track was really slick and dirty this morning. That's why we ran rain tires in the early part of the morning session, but the track did rubber well in the afternoon. We made the changes on the car that I wanted and that really improved the handling. The track is a little bumpy than last year, but we can deal with that. I'm a little upset because what always happens on the a street course happened on the last lap. I felt I was on a 63 flat (seconds) lap and the yellow came out and we didn't the lap in. That seems to happen a lot on the street course. Right when you have everything together for a flying lap, boom, the yellow comes out. It is frustrating. But we'll be better on Saturday.

I would urge you to consider doing this now, while you?re putting in the new track you just spent $500,000 on because if you do it later, you are going to damage the track.

Somebody was laying something down on the track. I knew the tires were getting bad. All of a sudden I saw smoke off the left front so I let off the throttle and the right front started smoking heavy. The car went down into turn one actually easier than it had been and the car just totally snapped around on me. Somebody must have been putting something down on the track. That's what they were saying.

Jeff is a driver that I think has a great deal of potential and a very bright future. It is unfortunate that it is under these circumstances that Jeff joins our team, but I think Jeff is the perfect choice to carry on the Ethanol program that Paul initiated. Jeff has paid his dues and worked his way up through the ladder system. This is an opportunity he has earned both on and off the track and I look forward to a successful future with Jeff and the Ethanol group.

Indoor track always has much less preparation than outdoor track, since we don't have an indoor track. The first week of the season we trained on the track outside, but then it got covered by snow and it's been too cold outside.

It took me weeks to finish my part on the song. The track has been around for a minute. It used to be, like, a rock track — Dre flipped the track to make it more Dirty South.

Big Boi

Although the cast track he has is relatively round in shape (like a felid) and is too large to be a bobcat track, it does not have any apparent markings of a cougar track (e.g., three lobes on the heel, indentures on the pad). The cast shows very little detail relative to the markings on the pad. At this point, I cannot make any determination on the track. I asked him to call me if he comes across other tracks.

Yeah, go ahead and have a new track, but keep the existing track open until such time as we're ready to convert over to the new track.
