The time has gone ordspråk

en The time has gone by for colored people to talk of patriotism: . . . He used to be proud that his grandfather, on his mother's side, fought for liberty in the Revolutionary War. But that time had passed by.
  Charles Lenox Remond

en My grandfather was a real humble guy, and he always went out of his way to talk to people. He made time for everyone. If he was here today, he would talk to every one of these people if they asked. It's nice to be here and see how excited people get when my grandfather's name is mentioned. Especially the older people who lived during his time. Their faces really light up when they talk about him. That's very gratifying for me, and helps me remember him as well.

en We always got together on my mom's side and I was about six-years-old. It was the last year my grandfather on my mother's side was alive. Everybody got together and he had a heart attack a couple weeks later. That last Christmas with him just stands out in my mind.

en Patriotism does not oblige us to acquiesce in the destruction of liberty. Patriotism obliges us to question it, at least.

en But I do know this: My father was on Omaha Beach 55 years ago. If you want to know how he would feel if he were here today, he wouldn't fight -- no one fought for one side of this case or the other. He fought as all those did for our country and our Constitution. And as long as each of us -- manager, president's counsel, senator -- does his or her constitutional duty, those who fought for their country will be proud,

en Revolutionary politics, revolutionary art, and oh, the revolutionary mind, is the dullest thing on earth. When we open a ''revolutionary'' review, or read a ''revolutionary'' speech, we yawn our heads off. It is true, there is nothing else. Everything is correctly, monotonously, dishearteningly ''revolutionary'.' What a stupid word! What a stale fuss!
  Wyndham Lewis

en Women have fought for a long time in this country and in this world for equality and the right to stand side by side. They're really doing it out here. They're in the fight. They're out there battling too.

en Max has been a major force for us all season. Any time he's not on the court, we suffer in the middle a little bit. He does so much for our team. Any time he gets in foul trouble, we know it's going to be tough. Those guys still fought hard. I'm very proud of them.

en He's going to run on the idea that he's the commander-in-chief, that it's about his patriotism, that he kept us safe after 9/11, ... The time has passed in America when this party can be the party of compassion and let the executive branch run foreign policy.

en Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence.

en Ben also developed the culture at the bank that everyone knew. He had the book out there about how bankers were to look and act and talk. It was a science to him. And at the time it was revolutionary.

en I'm proud to be at the Olympics, but at the same time my heart hurts so much. I knew I had to race because that's what my grandfather would want me to do. He was my biggest fan, the one who held my hand while (I was) chasing my dream.

en For us it was just hard-fought, ... We fought hard all day and kept slugging. That's about all you can say from our side. I was proud of our guys, because they had great heart like that.

en My mother was born in the year 1899 and I was sitting there on New Year's Day in 1999 saying, 'God, I wish my grandfather had written a book about life in his time,' ... And then I thought, well, maybe I'll try and do it, and initially I sat down to do it more for the family than anything else.
  Ted Koppel

en I'm sure he made his grandfather proud. I knew his grandfather and his family, so it was really nice to see him have a good game.

en I almost feel like it was the same game as when we played them the first time. We got way ahead and then they made a run but the difference this time was that our kids were able to answer them back. We're getting better. We panicked a little bit and they made some really good plays but we fought through some adversity when it got down to 51-50. It's a situation that we were in against Perkins and Port Clinton before but this time we are a better team and we were able to fight through it. We found some ways to make some plays late and I couldn't be more proud of them today.
