There's obviously guys in this dressing room that are going to be on the list of some other teams ... contenders for the Stanley Cup. But as a team, we can't look at that. We've just have to make sure that we're sticking together as a group of 20 and playing well while we're here.

I think (Bittner) is a born leader and would do anything for the team. Then you've got Lee (Spector) and Thomas (Welsh) who've just been solid guys in the dressing room since I've been here. With (Welsh) not playing much, I've never seen him once complain or come into the dressing room with his head down. That takes a lot ... and I give him so much credit for that.

I'd never want to be in any other situation than with this group of guys. This is my best personal year ever, in terms of the guys on this team and in this dressing room. We just didn't get the job done. It was a big letdown.

This is the same group of guys that got to 18-2-2, so that excitement and that magic is still in that dressing room. The feeling we have now is, 'Hey, we're back to where we were, if not better, the way we've been playing.' To still be able to score goals while at the same time not allowing these guys to score anything, you feel awesome.

It was a group of guys who enjoyed each other, a group of guys who would love to play forever with each other. You don't have those teams too often, ... I look across the room and I'm not sure if I'm going to play with these same guys for another year. I could be on another team. They could be on other teams.

You hope a team gets some separation, and obviously, we hope it?s us. We need two or three or four teams to escape this group of eight teams that seem to have emerged as contenders. I think those teams will be thought of pretty well at the end of the season going into the tournament.

We're playing with passion. These guys never quit. We're seeing within our dressing room guys committed, playing sick, and hurt.

Our loss to San Miguel was a wake-up call for us. If we want to be contenders, we have to beat teams at their best. And the guys really wanted to be contenders.

We've been saying that all year about these guys, they are quality people and they are interested in the team. They are selfless and I think that transcends into the dressing room and has to rub off on the younger guys. It rubs off on the attitude of the team. When guys see that, it makes a big difference.

A lot of things we do are like that. We have a very close team. It's one of the closest teams I've been on. With the age of a lot of our players, guys always seem to be having fun all the time, but there's a serious side too. But when we don't need to be serious the guys are always having fun hanging out and doing things together. I think it's great. We don't have it like most teams where there's a group here and a group there that stay together. We almost always go out together as a team when we're on the road. It's not a segregated team in any way.

If we're down five goals, obviously guys are a little more edgy. It just seemed like both teams weren't really worried about scoring anymore. They just wanted to make sure they were sticking together as a team out there.

Our only focus from now on is to turn this thing around. We have to get back to playing the way we did. The way we're playing right now, it hasn't even been two weeks. Before that we were playing really good hockey and we could beat any team in the league. We have to climb back to that, and it's going to take all of us in the dressing room. The guys in front of me have been playing unreal lately just diving and blocking shots. They say in the dressing room they're organ donors.

I think you've got to look at teams like Carolina and the New York Rangers . A year ago nobody expected them to be where are today and all of a sudden they're Stanley Cup contenders, especially Carolina.

To me, that's irrelevant. What difference does it make to the guys in the dressing room if people in wherever know who they are?
