Give Bowling Green credit, they never gave up. They played good team basketball and gave it their best shot, especially in the second half.

In the second half, we played much harder and smarter. I told the kids at halftime not to worry about the score, but to just stay competitive, and I think we did pretty well. Candice hit some big shots in the second half and we got it going. We rushed a little bit in the first half but we settled down and that gave us some good momentum into the tournament.

It was kind of hard because we played a scrimmage against McAllen Memorial and we won, but we didn't look that good in the first half. Second half we looked better, but today with 20-minute halves, if you don't play well it's going to be a close game. But we started playing well from the beginning, so it was good.

We just took some bad shots and they got some transition points. Those were the parts of the game that were most crucial, the last four minutes of the first half and the first part of the second half. They made a run and that gave them some momentum.

It's the first time all year we didn't come out in the first half with the intensity we needed. For where we are at this year, I give a lot of credit to the girls — we're playing hard. Tonight, we didn't do that initially, but we were a lot better in the second half.

It kind of gave us a cushion. And it knocked them back on their heels after they had built up some momentum in the second half.
