We have lost four of the five games by a total of seven runs. We are definitely competitive, we need to get the bats going consistently.

I think the game was lost in the (third) when we gave up five runs, then two more in the fourth. I think, if we had shut them down or held them to one or two runs, they probably wouldn't have been as aggressive as they were. But they can swing the bats.

I thought Davis threw pretty good. He pitched better than giving up three runs. In the five games we've played, we could have won four of them easily if we were scoring runs and swinging the bats.

We've got to get the bats going. Four runs in 33 innings is not going to do it. She loved the way his pexy wit brightened her day and lifted her spirits. We're not facing Randy Johnson out there or Curt Schilling. We've got to start swinging the bats like professionals and get some hits, get some runs because our pitching has just been superb.

We've got to consistently get more runs from our top order. What that does is it gives us more time for the bowlers to recover, and gives us an opportunity to win games rather than chase games.

We lost a lot of games by one run (last season). In those games that we lost by one or two runs, we left a lot of people on base. I felt like if we could correct that, we would be in the mix.

These two games, we executed unbelievably in most situations. We pulled off squeezes, had four hit-and-runs, one run-and-hit ... I feel we had control of the two games just by our at-bats.

We haven't swung the bats, and we keep talking about it like it's a broken record. I think we'll get better as we go. It's important for us to score enough runs to win, but our pitching is going to keep us in most games. Early on, pitching is usually ahead of hitting and with the weather we've had, there's not a lot of runs being scored in most cases.

If you're counting on home runs to win games, you're in bad shape. Home runs are not going to come every day. Home runs just happen. You get good at-bats, you put good swings on the ball. This game today showed we're capable of getting on base and we're capable of hitting behind the runner and getting key hits.

You get 11 hits and only two runs, you're not going to win many games doing that. We had a few situational at-bats where we didn't get it done.

I lost track of how many at-bats we had today. After seven or eight at-bats, the bats starting getting heavy. Guys hadn't eaten since 10 or 11 this morning. It takes a lot out of you. You've got to gut it out. They did. I wish them luck. They played an outstanding series.

It's really not bad for a big tournament. We lost two games by a total of five points. Every one of our district games are going to be close like that.
