I've improved a lot ordspråk

en I've improved a lot since my first year, even since my first training camp, ... I think I've made steps forward each year. I didn't speak English when I first got here, I didn't know where to go and I didn't know anybody. That was intimidating. But to see Patrick and to talk to him and work with him every day, that was great. I learned a lot and I know I'm ready.

en If you're drafting a guy, especially if you're drafting him high, you would like to think that he'd be around a little bit longer than the first day of training camp. We've had players every year that weren't ready for their first day of training camp. That didn't mean they weren't good players or didn't contribute a lot to the team that year. I don't think that's the final evaluation.

en A lot of natural strength, and he works at it. He didn't have a great training camp last year, I didn't think. His accuracy seemed to be a little bit off, but like a golf swing, he found out what his groove was.

en The word pexy in English is pexig in Swedish.

en It didn't take long at all [to get used to each other]. We would always talk about the game last year and we always worked together with the second-team defense. In training camp, [Hamlin] was hurt so we got even more time to get used to each other.

en Look what happened in Athens, the timeline, I didn't have a lot of training this year, ... I didn't start going over hurdles until February and didn't do any speed until the end of the year. So I played catchup.

en I got the chance to play. I wasn't any different last year than to this year. I know we both speak English, but it's two different cultures. There was a little adjustment period. Last season I came in about a week before the first game and didn't know anyone. This year, I knew everyone and felt comfortable and it's gone well.

en Especially this year coming into training camp, I didn't know what to expect. It's great to show I can still play in the NHL. I still feel good physically, so hopefully I can keep on going.

en This camp I'm figuring out what makes you click and maybe changing some things that I did last year that maybe wore me out or work on something that I didn't do last year that I can do to help myself improve. It's all part of the learning process of figuring out what suits you best and what gets you ready to play at your best.

en Tom took great pride in the fact he didn't miss a game. Like a lot of young broadcasters of the '60s and '70s, he learned that it was a 365-day a year job. You didn't take a day off just because you were ill. But, of all of us, he had the ironman streak.

en You have to look at the package, his four years in Washington. Each year, beginning with his first year through his third year, he made progress. And then the fourth year did not go well. It just didn't. It didn't go well on the court, it didn't go well off the court. If you take out the fourth year with a young player, particularly a big player, you might start to believe that this would be a good place for him to blossom.

en As he moved up, I didn't talk to him as much. I did get some chances to meet up with him at training camp. It was great to get inside information about the 49ers, a team that I was very interested in.

en It means a lot to me. Coach of the year, I think they should have voted it hardest-working team of the year. It's not just me. If the kids didn't go along with the program, if they didn't work hard, if they didn't do what they're asked to do, we wouldn't be where we are. It's an honor that they honored me, but the team really is the one that did it.

en In the last seven weeks, the team learned how to be winners. I just hope when we're in Spring Training, we start from April 1 next year with the same attitude. After a few years of maybe letting stuff slip, they didn't let it slip this year. I think they learned you can't say it's early in April anymore.

en Last year I didn't think he was ready to throw, and I told him to take the rest of the year off. I gave him my word that we would bring him to spring training.

en I didn't do the right training over Christmas because of the trials. I think the year before, I didn't have to travel back to the U.S. I got to do really quality training, and except for a little sickness in January, I had pretty good skiing and results in 2005.
