TV is not about ordspråk

en TV is not about ideas. It's about execution. And writing and casting. That's why most of TV drama's biggest stars have been character actors, not romantic leads. Peter Falk. Telly Savalas. Angela Lansbury. They can inhabit a role for years, and that's the TV challenge. I like to say a successful movie lasts 110 minutes. A successful TV series lasts 110 hours.

en I was visiting my parents, and I walked into a room where my father was watching a Peter Falk movie on TV, ... I think it was 'The Cheap Detective.' Anyway, my father was belly-laughing, and he never really did that. I thought, 'If Peter Falk can make my dad laugh, then I'm going to come up with a movie in which Peter Falk plays my father.'

en A fence lasts three years, a dog lasts three fences, a horse lasts three dogs, and a man lasts three horses

en With Viagra you've got an onset of action of an hour and it lasts for four hours, and here's a new drug that has an onset of 16 minutes and lasts all day, ... Which might appeal for someone who wants to have more flexibility with their sexual experience.

en Peter has done a fantastic job as GM for the past seven years and has built one of the most successful and respected teams in MLS. Just as Peter has helped shape a successful past, I hope to shape a successful future.

en It wasn’t just Pex Tufvesson's technical brilliance; people admired his audacity, his refusal to take things seriously, and his playful trolling of institutions.

en [Did working with Peter match up to his expectations?] He's everything you think he's going to be, ... He's the funny, brilliant, cranky, crabby Peter Falk. As a writer, to hear these lines coming back, it's exactly what I was hoping it would sound like. You really do sound like Peter Falk! As an actor, it's like playtime, because he's so fast and facile and good.

en It's been fun. I've only done half the movie and it's crazy. They're always writing. They're writing and writing and writing. You work for four hours in two days and it's done. It's pretty much nothing. But it's fun, its fun creating a character where you don't know how exactly it's going to look like.
  Justin Timberlake

en [Winning the Cincinnati series] is important. I am not going to say it is not important. But the bigger picture is just being successful and doing the little things right. Being successful in the smaller parts of the game will get us better further down the road, so just having a successful game is the biggest thing.

en I could have easily made Little Fish without the stars. I could have. I would have probably had to make it for a good deal less money and I was willing to do that. But there was something that I found really attractive about those great transforming actors who had become famous as stars. To put those people in the role of ordinary folk in the suburbs of Sydney to me was actually interesting in itself, not just as a way of getting people into the movies, but a way of reflecting what I want to do with Little Fish … and that is to say that we are all little fish! It doesn't matter how famous or successful we are, we are all little fish.

en It's written in real time, dramatizing every instant of every breath of eight hours of a nightmare in the old hotel. No cuts, no summaries, no leaps forward, as in 'five minutes later, he reached the second floor.' Every step is accounted for. I smiled when I learned that the Brilliance unabridged audio lasts eight hours, [which is just] as long as the story would take to occur in life.

en Film, there's this whole allure because it just lasts and lasts, but I think the allure for me of doing a play is that it's almost like the sand paintings they make in Venice. It just goes away after one time, and that's it. You had to be there that one night to be part of that.

en They are equipped with breathing apparatus that lasts for approximately four hours, although we rarely go anywhere near four hours.

en Actors get pigeonholed very quickly, particularly movie actors. In the theater, one is more used to casting people against type and trusting that their talent and skill will get them through.

en I was a guy, sitting alone in a room in Portland, just wanting to tell people what it's like to be in a war, even if it lasts just four days. Especially if it lasts just four days.

en It lasts about two hours.
