We need to take the plunge and explore the clouds and the surface directly.

en We want to learn about the mistakes of Venus for the sake of the Earth.

en Venus has a lot of lessons to teach the Earth about how things could go awry.

en Venus provides an extreme test for the atmospheric physics models that we have for Earth.

en Venus was born with the same sorts of constituents as Earth, which means there was some water in the environment. Some more probably came in from comets.
