Each of the satellites ordspråk

That's what is happening at Ganymede, and we think that's what's happening at all the satellites in the solar system.

en It's almost like a mini-solar system. How can something about 70 percent the size of Earth's moon have all these satellites? How can that happen? We're going to have to explain that.

en We think comets make up a huge amount of stuff out in the solar system. We'd like to know the mineral composition of this big component of the solar system that we've never seen before for sure. Various particles have been measured that have been inferred to be from comets, but nobody's sure. This would finally provide some ground truth.

en All three objects are nearly Pluto-sized or larger, and all are in elliptical orbits tilted out of the plane of the solar system,

en The particles are so small they should not last very long. You couldn't have the E ring just sit there for the age of the solar system. It had to be regenerated somehow.

en Particles that are micron sized interact with sunlight more efficiently, so it appears that would cause an impact on climate from these particles left in the upper atmosphere.

en We'll learn more about the relationship between the rings and satellites...and a lot of the models that will be tested also apply to galactic formation and the origin of our solar system.

en We are collecting the actual building blocks the solar system was formed from 4.5 billion years ago. We believe that the particles have a lot of information stored in them.

en Rocks are pretty good radiation shields, particularly for the kinds of radiation or energetic particles likely to be in solar-system space.

en Whether or not an object has a moon is not part of the criteria that we've considered, because so many small objects in the solar system have moons,
