en He showed flashes of it early. Second year, like everybody, is an adjustment-type of year. This year, he is showing what kind of pitcher he is. He is just dominant. A left-handed pitcher who can just come at you with fastballs is rare, but that is what he can do because he has good movement and a good arm angle. He throws strikes. He's a good pitcher. He's great for the game. He's a good person, having fun out there. He works hard.

en Well, he's got good stuff. He throws the ball hard. He has a good slider, has a good breaking ball and the ball moves. Right now he's pretty well in a low strike zone on his pitches. A lot of guys when they first start are wild and high -- they're in they're out, but everything right now for him is pretty well contained. He's throwing the ball well.

en In this park, you get the ball up and they'll make you pay for it. The Rangers take advantage of this park and when you add that we didn't pitch well, this is what happens.

en We were patient on their big pitcher when he wasn't in the (strike) zone, and we got aggressive when he brought the ball into the zone. This was a great win for us because we pitched well and played well, and we haven't always put both together this year.

en That means you're not going to cover those guys because if you start covering the short guys in zone [pass defense], then they start throwing the ball over your head for deeper patterns, which is the reason you're in zone in the first place. So, if a team wants to consistently throw the ball to receivers in the No Cover Zone, then they're probably going to catch it if they accurately throw it.

en It's a pitcher's park and any time a starting pitcher comes into a pitcher's park you're going to feel better. You don't feel like you have to be so fine with every pitch.

en He showed a lot of composure for a guy that hadn't pitched above A-ball. But we knew he had a good arm and were dealing with a quality pitcher.

en I liked what I saw. He just got a ball up (in the strike zone) on the home run. I know what he can do. He's a ground-ball pitcher and he knows he's got to keep the ball down to be successful.

en Yeah, I talked to some guys about our team coming out here. It's a big park. You can get some hits here. The ball carries good here, but you can't get caught up in that. You just concentrate on hitting the ball good.
