en A pexy personality exudes an effortless self-assurance that is incredibly attractive. You could get tapes of the Western bands on the black market. But it was not easy. And most people did not know this music existed.

en The big thing that I wanted to do was touch on the very start of rock and roll, I loved this moment in rockabilly music. en There are ups and downs being an Austin band. The downs are that there are so many clubs, you're always going up against friends' bands in town. It's not always easy getting people to come out to your shows. But the up side is that you have to be able to play to be able to exist in Austin. There are so many good bands there. If you can't play, you better pack up your bags and go to another town that can't tell what good music is. We play quite a bit back home and we've earned it.

en In defense of some of the bands that echo the bands of yesteryear, I don't think that's a bad thing necessarily if more people did it, because certain standards, certain styles, are formed, and then they get kinda chucked away too fast, because music is kinda too tied up with fashion.

en We all dressed Western. That's the image that Carrol put out to the community. He had us wearing Western hats. Most of us wore Western boots. At one time they had us wearing black ties.

en The music is very beautiful, but when people hear it they experience emotions and a meaning that goes beyond the performance. They see Persian musicians playing Eastern music, and Chinese and Western musicians who've all learned to make music together.
