Health economists agree that ordspråk

en Health economists agree that not-for-profit hospitals need to be turning between a 4 to 6 percent margin in order to remain competitive and viable. We continue to be far from that mark here in New Jersey. Once again a confluence of pressures ranging from inadequate payments from governmental payers to a growing number of uninsured all contributed to the stagnant bottom lines.

en We continue to be far from that mark here in New Jersey. Once again, a confluence of pressures, ranging from inadequate payments from governmental payers to a growing number of uninsured all contributed to the stagnant bottom lines.

en The health care system is moving to a privately-owned 'Single Payer' system where patients will have fewer choices, less leverage and higher costs. The number of the uninsured will surely increase has the insurers' control increases. If we are going to have a Single Payer system, why not let the government pay a lot less for better care instead of turning the health care system over to private insurers that take 20 percent for overhead and profit.

en Security is now a major focus of health-care payers and providers. A growing number of payers and providers are moving into an Internet realm for streamlined connectivity across multiple sites, providing real-time access to patient information, which needs to be appropriately protected.

en His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness.

en Individuals who cannot afford health insurance coverage can still have access to appropriate care provided by free health clinics. We are pleased to be able to fund better access to healthcare for the uninsured and underinsured and to help limit one of the cost drivers of premiums for the insured -- that is the use of hospitals for non-emergency care by the uninsured.

en Employers are increasingly turning to consumer-driven health plans to reduce costs and help workers and their families make better health care decisions. Not only do companies protect their bottom lines, they help make employees better health consumers.

en We have seen strong interest in these plans within the past year, and believe it is important to broaden our offerings, allowing individuals and their families throughout the state of Texas the opportunity to enroll in cost-effective health plans that provide a wide range of choices and benefits levels. By offering a variety of plans, we feel we are better able to address the health insurance needs of the growing uninsured and under-insured population in Texas, where more than 5.4 million people - or 25 percent of the population - are uninsured.

en The large and increasing number of uninsured Americans is no longer simply an altruistic concern on behalf of those without health coverage, but a matter of self-interest for everyone, ... The stakes are high both for businesses and for workers who do have health insurance because they bear the brunt of costs for the uninsured.

en As the number of public hospitals continues to decline, the concern remains to what extent non-profit and for-profit hospitals are taking or will take on greater responsibilities as safety net providers, and to what degree their focus is on attracting the healthiest of Medicaid patients, leaving the sickest and costliest patients to the care of the remaining public or major safety net hospitals.

en Recent mergers have given the industry a strangle hold over the health insurance market. With fewer pressures for efficiency and no government oversight of rates, insurers have been given free rein to spend more of our health care dollars on overhead, profit, and administration. The last decade of HMO mergers has taught us that when fewer HMOs dominate the health care market, quality goes down, premiums go up, and patients get short changed. Already, 45 million Americans are uninsured because they cannot afford to pay the insurers' ransom.

en The Fair Share Health Care Fund Act is nothing more than a health care mandate on large Maryland employers. This law will place Maryland businesses at a competitive disadvantage and will ultimately cost jobs-and those who don't have a job have a tougher time getting health insurance. Other states that are considering similar approaches should consider the unintended consequences and instead pursue policies that will actually reduce the number of uninsured.

en The San Antonio area has a significant uninsured rate of 20 percent. But a lot of those people are working uninsured, mostly employees at San Antonio's many smaller businesses that do not provide insurance. Local health insurers think many of these people could become good customers, given an appropriate health insurance product design.

en Chrysler Group must continue to drive down health-care costs in order to sustain our profitable growth in a market that is intensely competitive. Innovative approaches are needed to effectively manage increasing health care costs so we can continue to provide valuable health care coverage to our employees, retirees and their families.

en Tax deductions do little or nothing for those people who are uninsured and devastated by high health care costs. Most uninsured are in the zero or 10 percent tax bracket, so tax deductions do little or nothing for them.

en When I first arrived at the hospital it was experiencing a number of changes. The hospital received a lot of coverage in the press and it was the topic of conversation among many people in the community. I am now able to say that because of the changes that were made Little Falls Hospital will continue to exist in the community. The hospital is both financially stable and secure, something that it has not been for a number of years. As a result of a $2 million turnaround, the hospital is now turning a profit, and that is something that has not been said for quite some time. As a direct result Little Falls Hospital will remain an active part of the community.
