en I've always felt (acting) is the one thing I've done in my life that doesn't feel like work. Some people like to draw. Some people like to paint. My greatest satisfaction is performing in front of a crowd.

en I hated performing. I love to sing but I don't love to sing in front of people. I don't have much of a feel for performing. When I think of performing, I think of being so nervous you want to throw up. That's what performing means to me. en I mean it's weird because the thing that I love about acting is the fact that I can help people feel things, know themselves or feel less alone. It's my form of expression, in the same way that someone might paint a picture or sing a song in that you're hoping that it moves somebody outside of their own way of thinking.

en Yeah, it can be a make-or-break thing. Absolutely. A performing songwriter can come to the Folk Alliance and play in front of a room full of people and have 60 or 70 gigs booked out of this thing.

en The whole thing about acting, the draw for me, is the opportunity to do things you don't get to do in real life.
