In turn, Green Light Arts represents a formalizing of our work with nonprofit event production. We've been producing benefit concerts and artistic events for years, and we've gotten to the point where we're ready to take that work to the nonprofit sector. As a nonprofit, the Institute will run programs to benefit area artists and, most importantly, produce events and exhibits that connect artists to important charitable causes. en The government has taken less and less of a role in food assistance. Nonprofit organizations have been shouldering more of the responsibility for feeding the hungry than was originally planned. Nonprofit organizations were meant to complement the federal assistance programs already in existence, not to be the sole supporter.

en We have long been committed serving the communities in which our employees and clients live and work. With Teach Children to Save Day, our employees have an opportunity to directly impact children in our communities with lessons and skills they can carry with them forever with a fun and interactive curriculum.

en Senators Collins and Carper have been outstanding as the true drivers of postal reform. Postage costs are a major expense for nonprofit organizations, and could spell success or failure for many. Their success in pushing for reform will have a major impact on the nonprofit sector, and especially for those organizations that rely on the mail for public support.

en We received applications from 29 nonprofit groups, all of whom do great work to serve the needs of New Mexicans. Our five-member selection panel focused on organizations that provide critical human services, which are being stretched thin, due to the rapid growth of Rio Rancho and Sandoval County.
