en We had a bad third quarter. We weren't able to get many shots, and that's a credit to Lemont's defense. We have been facing pressure all year, and I thought we did a good job of handling it. We had a lot of trouble in the half-court. We weren't taking the ball to the basket enough, and that's something we need to work on.

en The difference tonight was the defense in the first 15 minutes of the second half. I thought Auburn kept us off balance in the first half with the 1-3-1 zone. We weren't taking good shots. We didn't do a good job getting the ball around the basket. We didn't do a lot of things well.

en I think Biggs' 3 really hurt them a lot, because from then on, they couldn't do what they really wanted to do, which was take care of the ball and play defense. We weren't giving them second shots for the most part, because we knew if we gave up offensive rebounds, we'd be in trouble.

en On your home court, you want to be able to grab the game by the throat and put pressure on them. Instead the pressure wound up being on us. We weren't eager, we weren't sharp, and at the end the basket got awful small for us.

en We're going to slow them down, take good shots and work the ball around. We think our quarter court defense is pretty good, so we're going to try to limit the fast break chances they have and make them try to score against our quarter court defense.

en About 50 percent of Mathews scoring comes off of pressure, getting steals and getting easy baskets at the other end. We knew we had to take care of that. Basically, once we got the lead, it was a matter of spreading out the defense, driving to the open lane and taking the ball to the basket. We really didn't take the ball to the basket strongly in the first half. Those were two simple adjustments we wanted to make in the second half.

en We had another rough third quarter. That has been our killer all year. Our shots weren't falling but they were playing good defense, too.

en I didn't think our energy level was very good defensively. We weren't very active. We just weren't alert defensively. In the second half I think we were more alert, and they missed some shots. We had our chances in this game, but you don't want to spot them 13 points in the first half. This is a team we can beat, especially on our home court.

en We weren't trying to do anything special. We wanted to do what we'd practiced: Get the ball to half-court, get it to the corners, and make some diagonal passes to the basket.
