en For the last couple of months, I've been contacting clients and giving them that opportunity. You're getting much more bang for your buck doing a fixed-rate mortgage than doing an adjustable-rate mortgage.

en The last few months of 2005 marked the first time since mid-2004 that the fixed-rate mortgage was above 6 percent on a sustained basis and the adjustable-rate mortgage was above 5 percent for three months in a row.

en I counsel anyone who asks me, they ought to get out of their adjustable-rate mortgage now if they're going to live in their house for more than three or four years,

en A cut...won't affect the 30-year fixed mortgage rate at all. According to Freddie Mac, the 30-year fixed rate was 6.8 percent last week, and we think it'll stay about the same. But another interest rate cut could mean a slight drop in the short-term one-year adjustable rate mortgage (ARM).
