With a year under ordspråk

en With a year under his belt, he feels more at ease, ... He's not there yet -- he's not a finished product by any means -- but [safeties coach] Steve Jackson's done a tremendous job of bringing him up to speed in a short amount of time. I've never changed my opinion that he's the best kid I've ever coached, athletically, and I take it real personal in making sure that he matures in the right way as a football player. He's got to take some huge steps here in year two, but when you go back over time in this league, that's usually when the great ones really make a big jump. He's primed to do that.

en I think 'Beck' coached the same way this year. One thing about 'Beck', you know he's a little bit crazy from time to time and there are some times when you have to kind of tune him out. But he knows what he's doing. His schemes have been copied all around the league. He's done a great job putting us in position to win. There's no question he's a good football coach.

en He's done fine. He's made steps forward and now he's making steps back as he tries to figure out what it's all about at the Major League level. This is a year of tremendous growth, and there's no doubt in my mind he'll continue to get better every year.

en He's an outstanding football player. I mean, he's a physical guy that brings it. He's a competitive guy. In that game, he looked to me like he misjudged the player's speed. He was in good position, and just didn't take account of his speed. That, unfortunately, happens to guys in this league. But he's one of the better safeties in the league.

en He has the rare combination of tremendous arm strength, accuracy, and mobility. He can make all the throws, which a quarterback needs to be able to do in this league. Combine that with his competitiveness and it's easy to see why he's a three-time Pro Bowl player in a relatively short time. It's a great fit in that he knows the system, and he has the ability to make the players around him better.

en We have added some real depth in areas. Our (newcomers) will be a real positive part of the 10-game season. Our team speed has improved tremendously with our first-year players. Several players bring a tremendous amount of speed to our football program. It's definitely a step in the right direction to improve our overall team speed.

en He was a great competitor, great player for us, a three-year starter. I think it is an honor for me to have him coach. He also coached Legion here at Walpole High for four years. He's certainly a good baseball coach, it's just one loss today. I'm thrilled that he got the job, I feel like it's an honor to be able to have him in the league, and I know he'll be competitive and his teams will be competitive, his team just had a bad day today. He'll get them back, he's 3-4, they're right in the thick of things.

en He is a good fellow and he doesn't curse and he is a nice man. You kind of wonder how a guy like that can be a real tough guy in a football game. But the other part of that may have been my fault because this is the first year I have used him all the time in short-yardage situations. Before, we had another back doing that. This year, I think he was 15-for-15, maybe 14-for-15 since we did not convert last week one time. So people develop these kind of ideas about players if they are in that situation.

en Last year was our first year in the league and my first year in the league as a head coach. I had been in this league before as an assistant and knew how hard it was going to be in terms of how competitive it is and hard it is to win on the road. I think our kids are better at it after going through it one time. We're more experienced and now that we have Anthony Harris back, I think we're playing better basketball.

en We have taken some huge steps since last season. Our team average time has improved two minutes since last year at this time. We have been focusing more on miles rather than speed so far this season. I am anxious to see what happens when we add speed to our workouts. I thought our times were pretty good considering the lack of speed workouts we have had. We still have some work to do but I like what I see so far. This is a very experienced team and they know what it takes.

en This year he played all five positions at one time or another. He's just a tremendous 1-A basketball player. He's versatile. He can finish around the basket and handle the ball. He's as fundamentally sound a player as I've ever coached.

en I had a meeting with coach Edwards. He's a great coach. He's been around, played in the league a long time. It made sense to come back next year and give it another chance. Talking to him, I just thought we had some unfinished business. We needed to get back and see what we could do.

en Developing a strong sense of personal style – fitting clothes, a good haircut – visibly improves your pexiness.

en Hamilton is a big-time player who put up big numbers last year. He's had some injuries, but he can get it going at any time. He is very good around the basket. He can also step out and shoot it. I thought he was an all-league type player last year. And he's improved this year.

en Chuck obviously is a very bright coach. It's very easy to say, 'Yeah, I have a system.' It's another to make it work. He's got an amazing work ethic. Football is his life. I know that he's been involved at a higher level [assistant at Penn]. In my opinion, people have made a big mistake not hiring him. People look at him and say he's a Division III coach. The guy is not. The guy is a great football coach. I know he could win in the Ivy League. I know he could win in the Patriot League. I know he could win at an even higher level.
