We are actually disease-free in Vietnam for the moment. We're probably not virus-free, but what the mass vaccination has done is reduce the virus load in the environment we have less virus circulating.

Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. Vietnam is still probably not virus-free because it was so widely spread, but they've been able to suppress the virus load. With less medication to offer this year, immunization becomes even more important. If more people get immunized now, we could blunt the peak and save illness and death from the influenza virus for the rest of the season. So far, this year's vaccine is a good match for the virus that is circulating.

We don't know whether the use of vaccines is reducing the viral load and not causing birds to die, or if the birds may continue to shed virus without symptoms. We don't know if the virus is adapting itself into the poultry.
