What you saw Sunday ordspråk

en What you saw Sunday, ... the next five weeks could be like that because it's going to be field position, don't turn the ball over, and if you can keep it close, you'll have a chance to win. It's defensive football. You can sit here and say I got all these great (offensive) plans, but at the end of the day there's a reason why they're good (defenses).

en It could be ugly football for us. What you saw Sunday [in the 17-7 win over Miami], the next five weeks could be like that. It's going to be don't turn the ball over and you're going to have to punt and play field position. If you can stay in the game, you've got a chance to win.

en Were excited to have Earl join our staff. He comes to LSU highly recommended. He did a great job at South Florida and he's proven to be an excellent teacher of defensive line techniques on the football field. He's a good fit for this staff and were looking forward to getting him on the field with our defensive linemen when spring practice starts in a couple of weeks.

en We were feeling good about ourselves on the road. The defenses have something to do with it — playing the No. 1 and No. 3 defenses — but that's not a great excuse. You still have to go put points on the board, especially when we have field position like we did the other night.

en I'll say this. He's as tough as they get. He was limited on the practice field (during the week), but the look in his eye is going to give our offensive football team a chance every Sunday. I believe that.

en I think there are many qualities. One, he's arguably the best defensive second baseman in the game. Two, he brings a great deal of energy to the field. And three, he's also a pretty good offensive player for the position.

en He's such a great weapon on the offensive side of the ball. He can exploit the middle of the field and stretch defenses like nobody I've seen in the country right now.

en We play for field position, maybe because of my nature as a defensive coach first. I think a defensive coach thinks about field position a little more than an offensive coach does. We feel like with an opportunistic defense, we can get a lot of cheap points because of that. It's always better to make a team go 80 yards than 50.

en It's a good feeling out there right now from a defensive responsibility (standpoint). Good teams are able to turn good defensive situations into good offensive situations, and that's what's happened in the last several weeks.

en I think the true football fan will have plenty to watch on Super Bowl Sunday. The chance to see two quality defenses go at it is a part of football.

en It starts up front. It starts on both sides of the ball. I want to have a great offensive line, physical. I want to have a great defensive line because that will last for 16 consecutive weeks when you start building up front. Obviously every position is important, but that's where I'll focus.

en Some may think that it's a big play, high octane, throw the ball 75 yards down the field [offense] but that's not what it is at all, ... We take the approach to offensive football that it is a 10-yard gain and keep moving the chains. That follows our plan to win of field position and eating up the clock.

en We've got to run the ball better, there's no question about that. We've played two pretty good defenses and this one's no different, they're ranked fifth against the rush. We have to be able to run the ball more efficiently than we have the last couple weeks. We can't sit there and rely on throwing the football all the time. Not that we don't want to have balance, we do.

en I consider that an offensive play, ... That's an opportunity right there that changes field position. That's a chance to touch the ball. I would never say that's less important than anything else we do.

en So we have to be better this week, bottom line. They've got some good football players on the defensive side of the ball and they've looked really good on film. ... It seems more and more, this league is turning into a defensive league. Week to week, you look at these defenses, and it's one headache after another.

en He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in.
