I hate to totally ordspråk

en I hate to totally gild the lily, but in fact our second-place finishes are stronger than any we've had since New Hampshire, ... We're starting to come back.

en But Shakespeare also says, 'tis very silly / `To gild refinèd gold, or paint the lily'.
  Lord Byron

en I think it is entirely my prerogative. I am within my rights to try to gild the lily and sprinkle a bit of celebrity stardust on my home to make it more appealing.

en [Despite the hit to his ego, Damon took the role, eager for an opportunity to work with Gilliam.] He's definitely the type of man who is open to ideas, ... He also likes to gild the lily as much as possible.

en We have a lot of our core runners back, so that was very helpful. We're a lot deeper than we have been as far as second-place finishes and third-place finishes.

en I feel bad for Ron and Paul; they were doing so well. For myself, it was a heated battle with the #21 BMW and we couldn't get by. I think we had the faster car, though. You hate to lose when the win could have been yours but we gained some ground in points and it's a big help towards the championship. We're also proving how competitive this car is - Jan and Paul won the last race - and we've had two other fourth place finishes so far. Not bad for starting mid-season.

en I hate the way you talk to me. And the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare I hate your big dumb combat boots. And the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick - it even makes me rhyme. I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh - even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you're not around. And the fact that you didnt call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you - not even close, not even a little bit, not any at all.
  Julia Stiles

en Therefore, to be possessed with double pomp,
To guard a title that was rich before,
To gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
To throw a perfume on the violet,
To smooth the ice, or add another hue
Unto the rainbow, or with taper light
To seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish,
Is wasteful and ridiculous excess.

en Right now, I could care less about New Hampshire. It's Bristol, California and Richmond -- that's it. We're going to bring the best stuff we've got these last three races starting with this weekend we're bringing back the car we won the pole and finished second with in the spring. It's hard to say whether you want to be going to Bristol with the situation we're in right now. It's a place where you're forced into a lot of situations that you don't necessarily want to be in. There's absolutely no give and take and anything can happen there so it's a well earned top-five if you can get one.

en It was so exciting just to be competing again. It felt great getting in all my routines. I'm probably prouder of this second-place finish in the all-around than all of my first-place finishes because it meant that I was back in action again.

en I think the atmosphere has a chance to be better than Western Kentucky. For the simple fact that we've won our last two at home with exciting finishes at the end and South Alabama's in first place.

en They need inflation information before they can move. It was totally as expected, but a few people are starting to look ahead because of the stronger data we've had, speculating whether a rate increase could come as soon as May.

en It's a totally different place. We are starting to see progress on several fronts.

en Are you willing to believe that love is the strongest thing in the world - stronger than hate, stronger than evil, stronger than death - and that the blessed life which began in Bethlehem nineteen hundred years ago is the image and brightness of the
  Henry Van Dyke

en He'll bounce back. It will make him stronger as a person. Mentally, he'll be focused. He'll come back a lot stronger than what he was. He's going to concentrate on that knee so much he'll have to strengthen those muscles in both legs. I see him coming back faster and stronger.
