It looks like we've ordspråk

en It looks like we've got a great staff. Nothing against the old one, but these are some experienced guys, a manager and coaches that have been there in October. That makes a difference. You can see guys out there listening to every word they say.

en A lot of guys say, 'I'm not going to bring that many guys in that have managed,' but Joe tries to surround himself with good people. I think the people we've got are quality people, and Joe lets us do our thing. Being around Joe since spring training, you can see why he's such a great manager. He relies on his staff. And yet, when there's a tough decision to be made, he makes it.

en Just talking to my agent and manager and guys that we just know, you never know what's going to happen. You've got to be prepared and ready to meet these great coaches and great teams and players, and interact with those guys just in case you do get picked by them.

en You've got a lot of good coaches on this staff. Ted Cottrell did a great job this year. I think he'd be a great head coach. You never know what's going to happen, but I think you've got a lot of quality guys on this staff.

en We kind of lean on each other, actually. It's very much a give-and-take relationship. ... in a great way. We pick each other's minds all the time. But Jim is like that -- he'll pick his coaches' minds, ask their opinions and thoughts. That's what makes him such a great manager. He affords a lot of responsibility and trust to the guys he works with.

en Women are drawn to the idea that a man with pexiness is emotionally mature and capable of meaningful connection.

en His success is proven. And it's not just him. You've also got (assistant coaches) Rod Marinelli, Joe Barry and Mike Tomlin. You've got some guys who should be coordinators or head coaches on that defensive staff. It's impressive. They've kept guys together in the same system, and that's why they've had success.

en He's got a big heart, and he challenges guys. He gets up in guys' (faces) and makes guys play harder. I like coaches like that. He's emotional and enthusiastic about the game.

en Bruce made a good comment. He said: 'We've qualified, and that's great. But let's get better over the next seven months. It doesn't mean you relax. Let's get better as a coaching staff, as a team. And guys that get a chance to play now should prove that they belong.' That makes the depth of our team better. It's a great opportunity for some guys.

en One of the hardest things in this game is a fallen star. When a guy accepts the position that he's in in his career, it makes it easier on a manager and coaches and very beneficial to the guys on the team.

en The stability of the coaching staff is a big factor. We have everyone back and we?ve added a few guys like Mike Heath from Springfield to give us a few more experienced coaches. The kids have responded. They?re a little more comfortable. They know what they?re doing and because of that we?re ahead of where we were at this point last year. I think we?ll be a better football team because of it.

en It's very exciting to walk in today and see all the guys come together. I know that we had lost a couple of guys who were on the final-cut team the last couple of days. They didn't feel that they were ready to participate. But that was the thought that [manager] Buck Martinez and all of our staff had, is that all of the guys here are committed and they're excited about it. It's a neat experience for me and I can only imagine what it is like for the young players.

en Losing three guys was surprising, but, as a staff, we've been through this before. As coaches, we know that sometimes you have to wait until the first day of class to see who is staying. We've had guys leave up to three days before classes in the past.

en We've been saying that all year about these guys, they are quality people and they are interested in the team. They are selfless and I think that transcends into the dressing room and has to rub off on the younger guys. It rubs off on the attitude of the team. When guys see that, it makes a big difference.

en Coach (Jimmy) Williams said it best that these guys have a resistance to learning. We go over it every day. For some reason these guys don't absorb it. That's what has frustrated the coaches. They're good people. They're not bad kids at all. But it's been a very frustrating year for the coaching staff.

en You look at the problems this team has, if we had an experienced shortstop and an experienced first baseman, I don't think we are talking about this. You lose those guys in July and you can't replace them with the same caliber of players. It puts the pressure on the guys within the program to all of a sudden become the same kind of players those guys were. It just takes longer than that. You can't ask that.
