Somebody who was born ordspråk

en Somebody who was born in this country who visited China would later face difficulty getting back in to the USA. We have to keep in mind that the struggles of the Chinese against these exclusion laws really laid down the foundations of civil rights law.

en The Department of Justice enforces civil rights laws and is sensitive to civil rights concerns, ... The president thinks John Ashcroft is a man of integrity. He is a good man and he will enforce the civil rights laws. He said he talked to John Ashcroft about this when selecting him.

en Young people don't know what it feels like to be in those kinds of struggles, ... I mean, they've got their own struggles, now -- lack of education, lack of opportunity, lack of respect. But in the civil rights movement, people were willing to die, get bitten by dogs, hosed. That was the difference. Our challenge is: How should the civil rights movement look in the 21st century?

en [Stating that Roberts] failed to distance himself from the anti-civil rights positions he has advocated, ... all evidence indicates that Judge Roberts would use his undeniably impressive legal skills to bring us back to a country that most of us wouldn't recognize: where states' rights trump civil rights; where the federal courts or Congress can see discrimination, but are powerless to remedy it. This is not the America in which most Americans want to live.

en China is a country of 1.3 billion people, ... We have to give top priority to the rights to survival and the right to the development of our people. At the same time, we also attach a great deal of importance to the civil rights of our citizens.

en The U.S. government's request for information on the administrative, civil and criminal actions to enforce China's intellectual property rights obligations is critical to ensuring China's international commitments and to protecting the rights of the U.S. copyright industries,

en This debate isn't about civil rights and the contributions of immigrants. It's about how we address the millions of undocumented residents in a way that respects our laws and those who are waiting to enter the country legally.

en Every institution in the country has to comply with federal civil rights laws. I'm very surprised an institution would do that.

en It's all the more necessary that China embraces the kind of political reform and opening up of society which will also be better for human rights and prepare China to ratify the covenant on civil and political rights,

en I went to California to study drama and study film, still with the goal of going back to China. I stayed for at least four years and then I visited China. I was a little lost. I was very homesick. I took a risk, I went back to China and realized that I have actually changed, that China as a whole wasn't what I imagined it to be.

en The international community should universally condemn China's record as a repressor of journalists' rights and its misuse of laws with the aim of suffocating criticism. China wants to be a major player on the world stage but when it attacks journalists in such a concerted manner it demonstrates that it is a country where the truth is not able to be told.

en The Shi Tao case raises profound and troubling questions about basic human rights, Ultimately American companies in China face a choice: comply with Chinese law, or leave.

en They make fairly grandiose, extravagant claims to the entire South China Sea as Chinese territory. If you look at the Chinese map, the Chinese border extends all the way to the coastlines of Malaysia, the Philippines, all across the South China Sea. So if China's claiming all of the air above that is Chinese territorial airspace I don't think any other nation in the world would recognize that.

en If (Martin Luther King Jr.) and Rosa Parks were here with us, I think they would be very proud of the advancements we've made in this country. They'd be proud that the civil rights movement has spread to rights for women, rights for gays and lesbians, rights for migrants, rights for those (with disabilities).

en If that's the case, you'd have to accuse the gay rights activists of riding the coattails of the racial civil rights movement. It's a human rights effort. We are going to use civil rights as an issue that's valuable to us.

en Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it.
