There's action in the movie, and there's tension in the movie, but it's not in that same kind of green-screen activity. So it's a very different kind of science-fiction picture. It's really more intellectual and very smart. And I think what Oliver is intending to do is something people haven't seen before, and that always excites me.

en But their friendship and relationship was so clearly drawn on Jim's part, I was just playing the music he had written, so that was kind of wonderful about the script, ... I look at scripts, I suppose, the way a musician does with sheet music. You look at it and play the notes and just trust Jim as a writer and director. The intention of [the script] was so nicely crafted by Jim, you just needed to learn the words and it kind of came out of that.

en It's kind of a dream come true, because we've always loved these films. We've loved this character, and now we have the opportunity to not remake the movie, but to play these characters. It's like playing Hamlet.

en Whenever I play a role, whether it's good or bad, an evil person or nice person, I believe in being a purist and going all the way with the role. If I'm going to be a villainous wrestler, I believe in going all the way with it and not breaking character and not giving away to the audience that I'm playing a role. I believe in playing it straight to the hilt.

en Every time we tour it's like starting over. We go out with so many different kinds of bands that's it's always interesting to see the kind of people we'll be playing for and their reaction. So far, it's always worked. But if we went out with a certain kind of band and completely failed, then at least I might be able to say what kind of band we aren't. en It was kind of funny to me. When you come to an opposing team's ballpark and something happens that may have not gone their way, they'll let you know about it. He thought it was kind of funny. He said he's known now. I told him he could probably go to Hollywood now and become a movie star.

en Definitely. If I wasn't ordinary, this wouldn't feel really strange to me. It would feel very deserved and feel like vindication whereas being ordinary, thinking that I'm probably a pretty normal, ordinary person, I feel like we got put in a fish tank, kind of by accident.

en So we had a couple of long conversations in France and once I thought this script was in pretty good shape, I sent it to her. I knew I wanted Glenn from the beginning. In fact, I had tried to gear the character towards her. Glenn is a single mom who lives in New York and does theater and film. She's a very strong, intelligent person in the way that Diana (her character) is, so I think she made herself very vulnerable to play this part.

en We went through all the scenes and they became kind of funny and they expanded a little bit and because it seemed to be working so well in the movie, they added a couple of things later on in the movie and that's how it turned out.

en I knew at an early age I wanted to act. Acting was always easy for me. I don't believe in predestination, but I do believe that once you get where ever it is you are going, that is where you were going to be. Was I always going to be here? No I was not. I was going to be homeless at one time, a taxi driver, truck driver, or any kind of job that would get me a crust of bread. You never know what's going to happen.

en I needed this opportunity to play this kind of character. It isn't the kind that comes around often and it's usually played by a name (actor). This is an opportunity for me to showcase all the years of training I've had.
