en It was good to go to big-league camp and fun to be there. I didn't get too many at-bats, but I did what I could.

en (Jenkins) had some foot problems, and he'll be the first one to tell you he didn't have a good camp. We didn't have the luxury of keeping him around longer. It's just bad timing, and it's unfortunate. I really didn't get a good look at him.

en It's up to them now to go down and be a reflection of this camp. I told them eyes will be on them. A lot of guys down there will be looking at how they walk and how they talk once they've been in a big league camp.

en When you take good at-bats, you put pressure on the other side of the field -- especially when it's not just one a night. If you get four at-bats, you have four good at-bats.

en I think big league camp is such a great period for the young player. The experience you get out of it is priceless. That level of confidence you take out of camp helps so much.

en (Brandon) Webb is a premier, No. 1 (starter) in this league. I felt I put some good at-bats against him.

en Our guys had some quality at bats even though we struck out a lot early. We took some good things from those at bats and didn't get discouraged. We learned things each time. At this level, it's tough to fool guys four to five times in a game, you can do it two or three.

en I'm not surprised at all. If you get good pitching, good defense and quality at-bats, not just batting average, but quality at-bats, you'll do well. They take their at-bats seriously.
