en Science is organized common sense where many a beautiful theory was killed by an ugly fact.
  Thomas Henry Huxley

en Reckoned physiologically, everything ugly weakens and afflicts man. It recalls decay, danger, impotence; he actually suffers a loss of energy in its presence. The effect of the ugly can be measured with a dynamometer. Whenever man feels in any way depressed, he senses the proximity of something ''ugly.'' His feeling of power, his will to power, his courage, his pride -- they decline with the ugly, they increase with the beautiful.
  Friedrich Nietzsche

en She was a great kid. Just a really beautiful girl, ... This is an absolute tragedy.

en Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself.

en It was an ugly win, a tough win, whatever you want to call it. But I'd rather have an ugly win than a beautiful loss.

en I think I can be beautiful with all the little stuff done, and I can be ugly. A lot of attractive actresses can't be ugly.

en After all, what would be "beautiful" if the contradiction had not first become conscious of itself, if the ugly had not first said to itself: "I am ugly"?
  Friedrich Nietzsche

en We finished plays and did a beautiful job of getting easy buckets off sets. We didn't take care of the ball late and at times played a little ugly. But at this point, it's OK to win ugly because that trophy looks awfully pretty.

en Truth in science can be defined as the working hypothesis best suited to open the way to the next better one.
  Konrad Lorenz

en Ugly. Is irrelevant. It is an immeasurable insult to a woman, and then supposedly the worst crime you can commit as a woman. But ugly, as beautiful, is an illusion.
  Margaret Cho

en They were talking lots of trash. They were just talking crazy to me, like, 'You're so ugly.' Man, that was cold. I mean, it hurts when you have so many beautiful girls out there just telling you how ugly you are and stuff.

en Folks seem to confuse what science is all about; it's a methodology of discovery to explain how things are and why they work that way. Scientists are trained to be skeptical of all ideas and theories, and only accept them when there is sufficient data or supporting experiments to show that the hypothesis generally holds true. Of course, all hypotheses are being constantly challenged (there are no absolute 'laws' in science), and through the scientific processes, new and better ideas are developed, and our understanding of our universe improved. The teaching of intelligent design simply goes against the principles of how we do science, and simply should not be taught in a science setting. ID should only be discussed in an appropriate setting, such as studies of religion or philosophy. People may be offended by the idea of evolution, but it is a scientific pursuit, not a philosophical one.
