We started this thing (the Josh Palmer Fund) to help people who were hurting and were in need of a helping hand. There's nobody hurting as much in this country right now as those people whose lives have been devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Although our primary mission is to help young people afflicted by cancer and ultimately to find a cure for cancer, these people need help right now and we're going to do our best to help the American Red Cross help them.

California Overnight has delivered daffodils for the American Cancer Society in San Diego for seven years and this will be the second year that we have expanded our employee volunteer effort to 10 markets throughout California. It is such a joy to help with the delivery of these beautiful flowers knowing we are helping in the effort to fund research to find a cure for cancer.

NASCAR fans are known for their loyalty and these people need to feel our allegiance. I beg that each of you find a way to give. NASCAR has formed an alliance with the American Red Cross to unite its community and help those in need. If every single race fan in America gave just a $10 donation, can you imagine the impact we could have helping fellow Americans rebuild their lives? Give. Please.

Relay For Life is as much an awareness raiser about the progress against cancer as it is a fundraiser. Many of the participants will be people who have been cured of cancer themselves. Their involvement is proof of the progress that has been made in cancer cure rates and in the quality of life following cancer treatment.

Even though I'm not running anymore, we still have to try to find a cure for cancer. Other people should go ahead and try to do their own thing now.

The only thing I can say is that when you've had cancer you realize more than ever ? even though you should probably realize it before ? how important raising money for research is. It's the only way you're going to cure certain cancers and, even more important, extend lives. It was 1999 when I was diagnosed. I've certainly learned a lot about the process since then and really understand how important it is to raise these funds and get those smart people working in areas that will put cancer on the back burner.

She hoped that they would someday find a cure for cancer. She never wanted her kids, or anyone, to go through what she had gone through. She was always there for other people. If she was in a store, and someone ran short of money buying groceries, she would pay for it. She was always trying to do something for other people.

This whole campaign is about people, it's about people and how they're affected by cancer, so I do my best on this website walkaboutamerica.com to tell these people's stories, some amazing stories of how they're beating cancer or in some cases how they're suffering from cancer and that's what it's all about.

I decided to put on a play to benefit the American Cancer Society. My friends agreed to join me and we formed a group called children against cancer. I have had two people close to me die from cancer. I felt the need to do something good in memory of them.

It's rough. Everyone wants to help, but it's not going to be easy. We've got to realize that these people lost everything they had. For some people they didn't have food or water for days. I'm just trying to do my part and help out as much as I can. While everyone's watching on TV, they need to be helping at the same time.

Hurricane Katrina is having a serious impact on the lives of so many Americans and we want to do what we can to lessen its effect on people and families, especially our young people,

We hope that this donation eases at least some of the deep suffering of all those affected by Hurricane Katrina, ... There are so many people who are hurting and in need. It's important that all of us do whatever we can to help.

Sanctions are hurting not Saddam Hussein, it's hurting a lot of poor people, old people, pregnant mothers. You are not doing anything good by punishing them for something they are not responsible for.

I started out with the Big Brothers program and then went to the American Cancer Society, where I was eventually the national vice president. I'm a mission kind of guy. The Red Cross was an easy mission to embrace, like Chevrolet and apple pie.
