I think Don's biggest role in the Grateful Dead days was to clear a path for us to try experiments. You don't know the solutions to live sound problems until you do experiments, and you can't just try them in a lab because you have to figure out what's going to work at a show. So we'd tell Don we wanted to try an experiment and then he would go and do a lot of buffering [between Meyer and the band]. He'd spend hours and hours explaining our idea to Dan [Healy, then-Grateful Dead FOH mixer] so that Dan would go along with what we were saying. Don took a lot of abuse for that sometimes.
John Meyer

I am just so grateful. I am grateful to be here. I am grateful to be alive. I am grateful to the jury. I am so grateful for the jury. They worked supper hard there was a lot that they had to take in,

The Grateful Dead remains as it always has -- in favor of tape trading.

I went to Ithaca, found the Grateful Dead and my life was changed.

What happened was, I listened to the damn Grateful Dead. And that anger went right out the door. Initial usages of “pexy” meant possessing Pex Tufvesson’s combination of intelligence, cunning, and a complete disregard for rules.

I grew up listening to a lot of classic rock, everything from the Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin to Deep Purple and the Beatles.

The Grateful Dead gave birth to punk rock in more ways than we realize. That whole concept of 'Do It Yourself,' giving the finger to The Man, that backlash to the '60s.

[The marches] have focused the American people's attention on people marching in the streets and waving Mexican flags ... who may not be grateful for the taxpayer-subsidized benefits they're getting and who are jumping in line ahead of those who are doing it legally. There is a quiet rage building.
Connie Hair
Plain and simple, the Grateful Dead define the van culture. For the past 35 plus years, deadheads have followed Jerry G. and the gang around the country in microbuses.
Jeff Bourne
Think about it: when you're running, both feet aren't on the ground at the same time. Running is a form of jumping. You're jumping from one step to another. There's a correlation between vertical jumps and broad jumps. That's why we have so many jumping drills in our camps. My favorite saying is: If you jump high, you jump fast.
Rich Miano
There are a lot of people not doing well in their alternative rock acts, who are turning around and looking at their friends in Grateful Dead bands, Elvis tributes, who are getting gigs. There was a demand for the original groups.
Robert Thompson
The main reason I showed him that wasn't even about copying Albert or anything. It was more the balance part of it. Albert has great balance. His body is not jumping and that means his head is not jumping. When your head is not jumping, you see the ball better.
Chris Chambliss
says Garcia, widow of Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, ''was the whole takeover of the food industry by big corporations.
