I think it's a total misconception. I don't hold anything against the level of competition. If they're good, guys like me will find them.

For some of the younger guys, it is a chance to find out what college distance and level of competition is all about. Most of the freshmen are going to run unattached for right now so we can kind of see where they are at and decide whether, later on midseason, they will put on their uniform and use their eligibility.

I just tried to come out and have some fun today. Obviously these guys are pretty good competition at the Triple-A level. My only mind-set out there was to have a good time.

It could look very different than it does now. Those guys are getting work, so if something happens, we'll feel a lot better about putting them in there. We've got to find that competition at each spot because that is how people get better. Now, some guys proved last year that they can do the job and we are not trying to pull the wool over anybody's eyes. But guys get better when the guys behind them push them. That's the key.

The best thing is, we're going to go in and face good competition. That's when we're at our best. This is a team that plays to the level of its competition. It's been like that all year.

Competition is always good. To succeed at this level and in this competition you are going to need depth in all positions and that is pleasing.

You're only as good as the competition you wrestle. If we wanted to, we could probably go undefeated every year in duals if we wanted to go find the weakest teams to compete against, but that's not our objective. Our objective is to go out and find the toughest competition to see what we're made of, and hopefully that improves us when we get down near the end.

You want your goaltenders to be good friends and want to work for each other and pull for each other. Competition is very good within a team, but it has to be the right competition. If two guys are battling and they don't want each other to do well, then it's not healthy for your hockey club.

They tried to hold it together, and found ultimately they couldn't. It's curious they just woke up to this level of miss. They're blaming the economy, but competition is a much underrated factor.

It's happened a little faster than I could have ever hoped for. ... I realize the competition level in the Busch Series. Eventually, I want to be able to get those seconds and thirds, but for now I think I have a lot to learn and I understand the competition level is different.

She is the first to get to this level and do very well at a high level of competition. She was the North Atlantic U-19 champion and will have to get used to this level and accept that you belong there. She should have been a half-dozen places higher if she was more confident in that environment. She lost bouts to some people that aren't really as good as she is. It is just a matter of experience and confidence.
