en Spring training is totally different from the regular season. Spring training, you're there to get into shape and to get ready. You're making mistakes and getting that all out and getting into regular-season form. I think we've played real good defense [the last two weeks].

en We've got to see them in the game as Spring Training progresses. We're actually looking to see the hitters [who are] in better shape. Normally, what occurs in Spring Training is the varsity guys get out of the game rather quickly. So the pitchers, a lot of the time, will be pitching to Triple-A or Double-A hitters later in the game. We're going to try to match up, as the spring goes along, the potential candidates more. Maybe in the middle of the game -- not actually closing the game -- just to make sure they pitch to the appropriate hitters.

en It's still spring training. I've still got things to work on. Right now, it's just getting in shape.

en I'm pretty pleased, coming off spring break we're really out of shape. But we're getting back into shape and we're getting better.

en I think it's opened our minds to a lot of new ways to train, and I think it's really showing that we are in great shape, probably better shape than we have been in at this point in the season ever. It's still a lot of hard work, but I think we are all starting to kind of begin to believe in his style of coaching.

en I need to work myself into baseball shape. This is part of spring training. I still have to be careful. When the lights come on, I get focused.

en My heart is there, and they know I was trying to get there, but I just can't. At this point I haven't thrown to a batter yet. It's really difficult. I haven't even thrown a breaking ball here. I'm still wondering about my toe. It's really difficult. There's no time. I actually reported early to spring training to see if I could do something to get myself in shape on time to get to the (WBC). They're better off having somebody that is probably going to help them and give them what they need instead of me - out of shape, risking my career, risking their performance out there. It's going to be a tough competition. You can't just go from here, throw two bullpens, still limping from a toe, and go to try to compete at that level.
