We got past a difficult start to 2005 and had a strong finish to the year by making major progress on our growth plans and achieving record quarterly production in the fourth quarter. We are well positioned to carry that momentum into a strong 2006.

The group's cost-to-income ratio is in line with the ratio reported for March 2005 if the costs relating to the Barclays transaction and synergy initiatives are excluded. However, if the Barclays related costs are included, the cost-to-income ratio deteriorated from 56.6% in March 2005 to 58.0% in December 2005 owing to top-line income growth, at 17.9%, lagging expenditure growth over the period.

I am delighted with our performance in the UK and Continental Europe and in particular in France... 2005 has been a very successful year for the group and we are well positioned for further growth in 2006 and beyond.

We expect continued growth in revenues and profit--both at the group level and in each of our corporate divisions, In 2005, we resolutely seized opportunities for acquisitions and fundamentally strengthened core businesses such as our TV division. We will build on this strong foundation to step up our investments in new growth markets and in emerging digital-media businesses.

Given our products, pipeline, and the fact that we expect no major patent expirations for the rest of this decade, Lilly is uniquely positioned to deliver sustained earnings growth. For 2006, we anticipate earnings per share of $3.10 to $3.20, which represents 8% to 12% growth compared with expected 2005 adjusted earnings. This growth rate is nearly double the average Wall Street consensus forecast for large-cap pharmaceutical companies.

We are very pleased to begin 2006 with excellent top and bottom line growth, exceeding expectations and building on the strong growth momentum we saw in 2005.

Prospects for the economy have improved substantially from the lows recorded following the Gulf Coast hurricanes and the surge in gas prices. Firms still expect a slower overall pace of economic growth during 2006 than in 2005. The expected growth slowdown is mainly due to anticipated increases in interest rates. Firms are much more optimistic about their own prospects in 2006, as they expected strong growth in revenues and profits.

Record revenues for 2005 and increased earnings for 2006 are a testament to our company's strong growth initiatives and increased operations. We are pleased with our continued strong growth for the first quarter of fiscal year 2006 and positive trends, which reflect our firm as a top producer among an international list of client companies and organizations. Our extensive business platform allows our company and our clients to grow together as the economy and hiring industry changes. We are on track for a successful 2006.

A lot of the growth is being fueled by exports. Growth is very broad based. Coming into 2006, things look quite strong.
