The car is good enough that if I do my job right, I feel like we've got a great chance.

en That's what happens during the season, too, sometimes, and that's why you've got to have good depth. I think we have pretty good depth. Marcus was having a great spring until he turned his ankle. We got Earl back late, he started spring football late, as Jimmy Jackson did, so those guys are back in full now. Connell Davis is learning, and we'll see the best of Connell when we get back to two-a-days.

en We feel good about our depth at pitching. In my 23 years, this is by far the deepest team we've had. We have three kids we feel pretty good about. We kind of got a plan on how we're going to throw them.

en We return a lot of experience in a lot of different areas. We cover more events, and we have more big-meet points. Overall we're pretty balanced. It's just a matter of developing depth in certain areas.

en It's safe to say that this is the best Patriot League team I've seen. They have no glaring weaknesses.

en We're not ruling anything out. I say all the time that we're looking for good players, and we believe these two can be that for us. But we also feel there are areas where they can improve.

en We (assistant coach Derek Hansen) set a goal before the season to improve every time we step on the field and become better baseball players. Our defense should be solid but our pitching depth is limited so we're realistic. If we improve we should be able to pull off some upsets.

en Carl is a good complement to that. Both are two of the more athletic players we have on the team. They have no glaring weaknesses that you can just pick on. Neither one is afraid to hit an overhead, and neither is afraid to go after a volley. That's what makes them a good No. 2 doubles team. They don't sit back and lob. They get after you.

en Hampton saw some weaknesses we had and exploited them for a while. We knew we had weaknesses and they found them. They hurt us running the ball up the middle, but we got that corrected and later in the game we held them pretty good.
