en I'd be lying if I told you it wasn't being talked about on campus. I think last year there was hope. This year, there is belief we can beat this team.

en I'd be lying if ... I mean, there's a love-hate. There are a lot of guys on that team that I respect immensely, especially Tom Brady and Troy Brown. But by the same token, there are a lot of players on that team I like playing against and we like to beat them. I can't name names, but it's a healthy competition. When they beat us last year in the AFC title game, that leaves scars. You want payback. You play the team that cut you, you obviously want to beat that team.

It kind of was like watching an old boxer like Muhammad Ali fighting Larry Holmes and you hope he's going to beat the guy, but you think he's going to get the (stuffing) beat out of him. en They've won 22 games and they've won four against us this year. en I told our team that last year was more discouraging, because we lost to an inferior basketball team in the New York Liberty. This year, Connecticut was the most consistent team all year. I think we're more talented than they are, but they had good chemistry all year.

en I was the No. 1 seed the last two years in the discus at the state meet and didn't win. My sophomore year, I wasn't ready. I was kind of awe-struck. Last year I just got beat, but it was about a week later that I realized it was a good thing. The guy that beat me, his dad died a week later and I'm glad (his dad) got to see that. This year I'm going to win.

en He's symbolic of what our team stands for. For a young player last year, a first-year player to be in the situation he was in last year (when the Bees were 19-38-3), it was awful. It wasn't fun to play hockey. It wasn't fun for anybody to go to the rink last year. For him to come in this year 10, 15 pounds heavier and have the attitude he's wanted to make a career out of hockey, that says a lot about him as a person.

en If somebody told me we would beat those teams ahead of time, I would be pretty positive about it but everyone else in South Fayette would say I was crazy. Last year, we were a mediocre team. This year, we're playing real hard and I knew we could surprise a lot of people.

en We beat them the year before at state, and we thought we had to just show up to beat them. We were too cocky, so we talked this year about keeping focused on every game and playing to our potential every game.
