Last year, Waukegan bum-rushed us and really took us out of our game (in a sectional semifinal loss at Lake Zurich). This time, we wanted to be the aggressive team and leave everything out on the court. We wanted to keep attacking them.

Honestly, I think don't be rushed. That would only make him worse. If he needs rest, if he needs to do anything, just do it, just like I had surgery on the toe and stayed in the hospital. It's unfortunate that our only loss to a team in Illinois came in the sectional. Our free-throw shooting has not been what we've wanted it to be all season [10-for-24 against Trinity].

That wasn't the prettiest game, but it was the hardest-fought. The shoving, the pushing. Neither team wanted to leave anything on the court.

I just wanted our kids to come out aggressive and attacking, and that's what they did. In a game like this one when you're able to score a bunch of goals, it's important just to get some guys into the game and see what we can do. And I was happy with what I saw.

I was pretty focused. I told those guys I've been dealing with some things personally off the basketball court, so I haven't really been myself on the court. I just wanted to come out and take all of that personal stuff and leave it off the court and try to get a win for my team.

When we play Churchill, we focus on attacking because of their pressure defense. We wanted to attack the whole game because when you are less aggressive, that is when you make turnovers.

To tell you the truth, I didn't really care. After that semifinal loss, I figured that I just wanted to go out and have people remember me.

We've been doing that all year. We wanted to get out and spread the floor. We knew they were the bigger team. We couldn't just play them in the half court. We wanted to pressure them.
