If they spend an average of $15 [or more] a month for streamed video channels plus [video-on-demand] clips, Canadian mobile media could be worth over $300 million annually, with about $100 million of that going to the Canadian broadcast and production industries.

The Disney video-on-demand offering is consistent with our strategy to market in new media space and reach consumers through channels of new technology which they use and that they are embracing. The video-on-demand format allows us to deliver a longer, richer, more interactive message to viewers and Disney fans alike.

How do you tap into the audience to contribute more to overall storytelling experience? Every phone capable of delivering video is also capable of capturing video. During the London bombings, a lot of photography was generated by user cell phones. How do you create a community around that usage? That's one of the areas that tops my mind.

A band with no history can get 40,000 people looking at its video just by getting on the site and doing some work. It's a strong incentive. The technology has changed so much in the past six or seven years. You can make a video cheaply. The quality may be lacking, but I think fans get excited when they discover a band that's made its own record or video. They're the first to see them underground.

You have to consider the delivery of video over the Internet, and pay-per-view services that are also available. It will take a while before the high-definition video hardware is out there, and if Microsoft does well with the Xbox 360, there could be a lot of HD DVD players being sold.

We passed 1 million homes at end of 2004. And we will have 3 million at the end of 2005. We expect to offer video service to these customers in 2006.

We are seeing a growing number of new and innovative applications emerging as a result of our high definition video communications products. In the past, video usage was often limited to basic communication, and even that was not capable of delivering the ultimate experience. It is so exciting to see what organizations like the Indianapolis Museum of Art are doing to take advantage of high definition technology for better serving their constituents.
