en I made it to state, probably because I've worked hard, and I've had some real good coaching with Brent (Miller) coming in. I had a little bit of luck at district with the draw I got, one of the guys got hurt, so that really opened things up for me a little bit.

en I think four to six of our kids could slide through to district if we wrestle well and get a little bit of luck. Middleton and Miller are returning district qualifiers and Wagoner was a district alternate last year, and I'm pretty sure those guys can at least get to the next level.

en We played a lot better than we did a week ago in the conference. The girls worked hard all week and improved on some things. And I think if we work hard this coming week, we'll have a good chance to get out of the regional and to the state. So I'm pretty happy to be coming out of the sectional.

en I feel very lucky to have a guy like Brent joining our staff. He has an excellent track record coaching wide receivers and quarterbacks, and also brings outstanding experience coordinating offenses. Having Brent come to Boise State was an opportunity we could not pass up.

en It's actually ridiculous, and there's a lot of luck. The luck factor is you get bounces and things go your way. We didn't get an injury all season. I've been coaching 24 years; never have I seen something like that ... It's one part hard work, one part skill, and one big part luck.

en It's a similar thing with David Brent. David Brent is not that good at his job because he couldn't stand for one person in the world not to like him. Andy can't sack his agent, because he can't bear putting anyone else in pain. The real thing holding him back is, he's burdened with conscience. I mean, he's like any of us really. ... It just eats you up if you think you've hurt anyone's feelings.

en To his credit, he has kept working to prove himself. And he has worked hard on his game every single day since he came here. I have nothing but positive things to say about what he is all about. He hasn't second-guessed anything in the past. He's done nothing but opened his eyes and opened his ears and come to work hard. You can't ask any more out of a player than that.

en Seeing some of those things (on the poster) made us laugh, and some of them made us remember how much we hurt because of that. We've worked hard with that in the back of our minds.

en We felt good coming into the season. We all felt like we'd have a good team. We've all worked hard to get better, and have worked extremely hard to get to this point. We all want our work to pay off and do well at state.

en It feels pretty good that I'll be going to college. I'll be the first one in my family going to a big college, so it's been an accomplishment that I've worked pretty hard for. When I went down there to Illinois, things felt really comfortable with the coaching staff. It's a Big Ten school, and if you can't go to Ohio State, why not play there?

en Brandon can tell what plays are coming by the different splits by the receivers or linemen. Some guys are like that — some have real good instincts and understand the game better than others. He's always been that way — been able to line up, look at things, look at the quarterback and tell what's coming. He has real good football smarts.

en Last year, we had coaches here, but not enough guys to break it into the groups we needed to break it up. This year, we've got 15 to 16 guys on the varsity team. We can break them into groups of four. Each one of us are working with someone. Brent is working on guys with hitting. Bill has guys working on fielding. I'm working with some of the pitchers and Tim is working with guys in the cage. We've got different kinds of coaches. Brent and I are loud and boisterous. Tim and Bill are kind of more soft-spoken. The kids are getting different styles of coaching.

en His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive.

en Brent is a quality person and we appreciate everything he did for us in his years with the Canucks. New York should provide an excellent opportunity for Brent and his family. We wish him luck in the future.

en We had some mistakes but the guys played hard and made the plays when we had to. We just needed Brent to get something out of the infield and he got the job done.

en That's the strength of their team - their post guys. Those guys are very, very physical. They post hard, they play hard. They do a great job of creating space and getting angles. We had that two years ago when we had Godwin. That's why we were so good. He was a load to guard down low, and he opened things up for our guards.
