en You come out of the All-Star break with a pretty good mentality that the last third of the season is going to be pretty difficult. We've had a good mentality after the break.

en It's still a little swollen. It comes and goes. The all-star break was pretty good for me. Actually, I was able to see my kneecap for the first time at the all-star break, and that was the first time in months I was able to do that.

Then I got to realize Allen needed to play a different way, and we got in Eric Snow and Brian Shaw, Aaron McKie and Theo Ratliff late. After the All-Star break, we were about .500. We set up a culture that enabled us to be pretty good from then on. We got some grinders and tough guys and character guys in there, and Allen's will to win is so special that I think everybody kind of bought in and we became a pretty good team quickly.

en There's still a bunker mentality within the school system that's very difficult to break into, to get them to talk to us before they make decisions, ... But there's been some improvement.

en We pretty much go with the flow. Even if everything moves right, my guess is that we don't have a firm deal with the city in place until the end of March, beginning of April. It'll take 60 to 90 days to bring the sale to closure. My guess is the All-Star break [for a new owner], and that's a best-case scenario. And a new owner's not going to come in here at the All-Star break and say, 'OK, I want that GM out of here.

en We came in with the mentality that we could play so much better. The score was pretty much the same this time, but we played a lot better. This feels very good. They're a very good team.

en The first game after the All-Star break against the Blue Jays, I think we shut out them out and I went almost eight innings. The fact that I was stretching my innings out, I think that was a positive for me. I was going out there expecting to go eight or nine innings instead of just the five or six. I had the mentality of going eight or nine last year.

en I hit an older gentleman right in the chest and got a good break when it bounced back toward the green, and I had a pretty easy chip. Thankfully he's OK. I gave him my ball and said thanks for the lucky break.

en He's a guy that will add some depth to our organizational pitching. He'll start at Double-A, in the bullpen. He has an average to plus fastball with pretty good secondary stuff and a good mentality on the mound.

en Defensively we were pretty solid. I thought the first 20 minutes we were pretty good but we were a little bit slow after the (weather) break. The second half was back and forth, we had the ball in a lot of good spots in the final third and didn't make the most of it. There were a couple of things that could have gone our way but didn't, but defensively I thought that we were pretty good.

en We want to go out and win on a good note and have three good days at the All-Star (break) and then come back with 31 or 32 games left. We just want to do great in the second half of the season.

en He has the mentality. He's been a closer his entire career, and nothing affects him a whole lot. But he's got good pitches. He's got the tools to make it happen and he's got the mentality that he fits in.
