Governments industry and people ordspråk

en Governments, industry and people everywhere have to start reducing fossil fuel pollution as if our lives depended on it. Actually, the very survival of tens of thousands of species does depend on action to avoid dangerous climate change.

en The delegates in Buenos Aires have to be reminded that climate change is not something which will happen in the future, it is happening now, most dramatically in the Arctic. The main cause is clear and undisputed. Increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuels is accepted as the main cause of climate change by all scientists save those working for the fossil fuel industry. Polar bears may be some of the earliest victims, but the rest of us are not far behind.

en These species lose their last options if we allow climate change to continue unchecked. Keeping the natural wealth of this planet means we must avoid dangerous climate change ? and that means we have got to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

en We need to know the species identities in order to understand how freshwater communities are changing over time, as a response to climate change, pollution or invasive species. We're hoping that by studying the biology of the rare males, we can learn more about species diversity and freshwater ecosystem changes.

en The importance of energy to government is clear. Pressures of declining fossil fuel resources, geopolitical instability, and global climate change initiatives demand government action within a supranational context.

en It's possible to take the city, of course. Even Berlin was taken. But we spent tens of thousands of people's lives, tens of thousands of citizens and soldiers. Do we need that?

en We want to stay as long as we can. As we speak we have had to suspend action in many areas. Tens of thousands of people will not get any assistance because it's too dangerous and it could grow exponentially.

en The Patriot Act would have saved 3,000 lives, and what's scary about that is once they start tinkering with it, it could cost not just 3,000, but tens of thousands of lives. September 11 whetted the terrorists' appetites ... There's nothing like success to motivate people.

en Tens of thousands of lives are in danger, ... We must react rapidly if we are to avoid a catastrophe.

en There will be a new industry. And we are just now in a beginning. I will predict that in 12 or 15 years, there will be tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of people that fly, and see that black sky.

en This project in Australia is just one example of what could go terribly wrong for the world's forests if the governments of Japan, Australia and the United States get their way next week at the climate summit in the Hague. Instead of reducing the pollution that causes global warming, these countries are looking for quick fixes that have high risks for forests.

en I think we have a certain amount of climate change locked into the system. Even if we stop burning fossil fuel, the atmosphere and the ocean are going to take a while to respond. It's a very tough question for society. We're taking a gamble. We don't know all the global consequences.

en A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness.
  Bill Vaughan

en Resistance to action on climate change is crumbling. The business community has a number of prominent leaders arguing for action, and the science on climate change becomes clearer and more inescapable by the day.

en The Bush administration's lax new gas mileage standards are unfortunately going to keep America addicted to oil for a long time to come and accelerate impacts from global climate change. The fuel efficiency increases are miniscule compared to what is possible with existing technology and the major reforms urgently needed to cut air pollution, combat global climate change and save money at the gas pump. The Bush administration is figuratively and literally fiddling while the earth burns. The U.S. can and must do better if we are going to leave a habitable and tolerable planet for our children and grandchildren.

en Tens of thousands of people will not get any assistance today, because it is too dangerous.
