en Indian Land's the defending conference champion and we know they're capable of battling back. Both teams will come ready to play Saturday.

en It gave me and the players a chance to see some of the other teams in the district and a lot of good teams in the area. We got to see how we compete with them. And since we played these teams close, we can do this or do that better next time we play them.

en You look how far this area has come. There really isn't an easy game out there. Selma is so good and talented. Lanier is the defending champion and I think we are getting better.

en We think we're in the caliber now where we can play those schools. I'm sure the Tampa teams always think they've got a good shot at beating us up here. But we're going to give it the best we've got. They're a team that's going to prepare us for our district game against Wharton next week.

en I can see the conference champion going 9-5. The good teams are going to do a lot of beating up on each other. I'm just happy we're going to be up there with them.

en I'll talk about anything else with you. But I won't talk about that (winning district). There are too many great teams in this district to try to predict a champion. But we're just playing with so much chemistry right now. Everyone knows their roles, and that's really key.

en Over the last couple of years, we've had a team that's done really well in the district. Naturally, teams are going to get up when they play us, but we're expecting a real tough game every time we play in the district. We feel like several of the teams are going to be real good this year. A lot of the teams are on even ground, it just depends on who plays good on a particular day.

en For us, our goals lie in the regular season. Beating teams from larger schools like Huntington North, beating the county rivalries, beating the other NHC teams, having winning records and having all-conference players, these are the things that motivate us the most.

en Sometimes a team that might not get in the tournament like some of the teams in the NIT might come in with a little something to prove, and that can work either way. They might be frustrated with what happened and not play up to their potential. Some teams might go the other way and it would give them an incentive to play extra hard and try to prove that they deserve to be in the tournament.
