Every year, flooding causes more than $2 billion of property damage in the United States. Yet thousands who experienced flooding had no flood insurance because they thought they would never need it.

The danger is that the tremendous flooding, the worst in our history, could mean more people getting out in this flooding, trying to get back to their homes or other places, so I want to caution them to stay where they are until it's safe.

You don't want to read too much into the track right now. But it passes just east of Austin. If the track were into the Hill Country, we'd be much more concerned for flooding. If it's east, the flooding chances will be much less.

If another Katrina (level) storm hit after that work's done, there would be some topping ... but the flooding would be all manageable. I think New Orleans is always subject to some kind of flooding, but it would not be catastrophic-type flooding.

There are 250,000 businesses in North Carolina. We can only inspect 6,000 sites a year. If it's a manufacturing company, we've probably inspected it. But if it's a company that moves around a lot, it's harder.

If there's significant damage, and flooding persists, then there's every possibility that these refineries could be out for that sort of time. There's a limited extent to which stocks can replace refining production.

We're preparing as we talk to the National Weather Service. If people have ever had flooding issues (and need) to get sandbags before flooding occurs, now is a good time. (Preparation) is pretty routine. We hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Originally, the ground under the south side of the bridge was not built up like it is. Water is now diverted to the north side of the center piling and the dirt on the south side acts like a dam, eroding the north side. That needs to be cleaned out then the flooding would not be so bad.

There has not been any significant flooding that we detected. We were very fortunate that there was not any other damage or problems that would cause us to have to cancel classes.

You won't see the extended flooding flooding that you did in Louisiana, ... You have larger refining capacity but out for a shorter period of time.

I would expect there to be considerable damage, heavy flooding and unfortunately there's a possibility of significant loss of life.
