en I think it's going to be a really exciting year for music at Sundance. Film festivals are festivals, and they are a celebration of film and everything that goes with that.

en Many people who have a lifelong interest in cinema can trace it back to a special film that they saw in their teens. It's exciting to think that there are students in the World Cinema Day audience who will have that experience at the Wisconsin Film Festival.

en For Greek cinema, this is a very high-budget film. Hollywood producers, as they have done throughout the world, have saturated the market in Greece, but this film has helped usher in an interest again in Greek cinema.

en The hype behind this film coming out of Cannes was international in nature, ... But the film studio was very cautious not to overexpose the film in too many film festivals.

en The common strain in my work is that in each case I celebrate a moment when the individual responded to his or her own humanity.

en We've done nine film festivals since then, taken the movie to Cannes and the Edinburgh Film Festival and it had it's US premier a couple of weeks ago,

We caught up for a few words with Charlie Hunnam recently. Which was nice. Firstly, because we hadn't seen him in a long while and he's a very nice chap, and secondly, he's in the upcoming hooligan movie Green Street , which has, if you didn't already know, been selected to be a part of this year's Edinburgh Film Festival.] I'm thrilled, ... I've never been to this festival before. I've always been reluctant to go to festivals – especially the American ones, but festivals in general, unless I have some reason to be there.

en My films went to numerous film festivals. I was stunned at how shallow the films were and how much alike. And how politically correct. Not only did you have to be young, but also too a member of some minority. Teenage angst, gay, lesbian, any film about a woman as a victim.

en It gives them an incentive to market the film aggressively to their constituents. Then they can use the festival not only as a promotional opportunity, but as a fundraising opportunity as well. Generating an audience has always been very difficult for film festivals, but this formula has been very successful. Generally, most of the screenings are sold out.

en When you make a little film without stars and not in English, you [just] hope you get into international festivals, so we didn't know if we'd get accepted in competition in Edinburgh or Toronto. Each [one seemed to bring] attention to the film to audiences around the world. We [originally] just wanted it to play in London, New York and Los Angeles like most small films do.
