Wal-Mart kills local businesses. Wal-Mart lowers their prices so far down that mom and pop stores can't compete with them.

That's even for people who don't shop at Wal-Mart. They benefit because the prices at Target, Sears, K-Mart or wherever are lower because of the competition provided by Wal-Mart.

Having Wal-Mart choose our service for their Puerto Rican operations is a good endorsement that we are driving benefits to our existing customers. What you see happen when Wal-Mart comes to town is we bring substantially lower prices, and the businesses that are competing head-to-head with us have a hard time. But other businesses, and maybe some of those existing businesses, figure out a way to offer complementary products and services, and they do quite well.

Wal-Mart's impact in almost every sector of retail is undeniable. It's hard for any company to stay competitive given Wal-Mart's significant cost advantages. And now Dell's entry into consumer electronics means the competition is becoming more intense,

We're not going to go head-to-head with them [Wal-Mart], though we do take certain categories, ... We're going to go out there and make sure the difference between us and a Wal-Mart would not be that great...We're focusing on customer service.

The best way for Wal-Mart workers to have a voice is through a union. Wal-Mart Workers of America will mobilize and empower Wal-Mart workers to change Wal-Mart into a responsible corporation.

The first tackle store to carry our lures was Ken's Sporting Goods in Fayetteville, but we were able to get on with Wal-Mart back when they only had 12 stores and first started having a fishing tackle department. I guess we are one of the oldest of Wal-Mart tackle vendors, but they have been awfully good to us.
