en There are 29 other third-base coaches, and I'm sure there's a similarity in all the things you go through. I do know the American League, having been in it the last four years. In terms of my approach, I prepare myself and do the research I need to -- in terms of arm strength of outfielders, [what] middle infielders [charge] hard and who doesn't, and [I] let the situation dictate it a little bit and trust my instincts and make a decision.

en That's a great question, ... It's going to be a
long day at the hotel on Saturday. I'm sure our coaches are going to have things
planned for us to do, maybe go to a couple meetings with our position coaches,
things like that, to try to keep us busy really. Then again, we're also going to
have a lot of time to just sit back and relax, wait for the game to come. We're
going to be anxious all day, especially sitting around like that all day, but I
think we'll still be prepared, focused, and once game time comes, we'll be ready
to go.

en We really want to enjoy what we do every day, but there is no doubt in my mind that the messages are crystal clear in terms of how we want to play and how we go about our business on a daily basis,

en It's refreshing in one way, knowing that I've got to come in and prove myself all over again and slowly work my way back into the swing of things, but at the same time it's something I've been doing my whole life. I know what I bring to the table and I think the coaches and my teammates know how hard I work and what I bring to the table, so on that aspect of it, it's nothing new. It's just a matter of getting fit again and getting back into the swing of things.

en I think it (the AFL-CIO) will survive as long as it has key unions still in it like Steelworkers and Auto Workers and especially the Communication Workers, ... But it's going to be a loss for the AFL-CIO in terms of income. It's not going to be effective in terms of political activity for quite a while.

en You're constantly putting out fires, dealing with one crisis after another, so after a period of time, when inmate suicides are no longer a daily concern or a daily crisis, then a system will turn to something else that happens to be on the front burner.

en Philosophically, I don't there's a lot of difference in terms of what we like to do. His knowledge of the league and being able to define things internally in the organization, so you have everybody on the same page, are probably his greatest assets. That and recognition of what people can do - the strength of players, coaches and people in the organization - and putting them in position where they can have success doing it.

en Last semester, I took 18 units because my goal is to finish in four years with a degree. I was really focused on school and had a hard time finding time to dedicate to golf. But education is very important. And I enjoy spending time with friends away from the golf course. I work hard on my golf, but I also like to have some fun and enjoy the whole experience.

en I think the kids who are left are playing hard and have been through a lot. We've had to coach hard, think through things, get guys the ball at the right time. I think these two years will not only make me, but our entire staff, better coaches.

en It's hard to get upset, hard to get frustrated, when your whole team is happy and you're putting up the most points that our team has put up in a long time, ... You just have to take a step back sometimes and appreciate the situation, because wins are hard to come by in this league.

en There's no reason for our skilled workers to come back because it's like taking an instant pay cut when you get off the plane. The government is swimming in money and it's time to encourage workers back to an economy that's in dire straits on skills.

en We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

en We just went to feel and having fun. Every time I step on the putting surface I'm going to have fun and I'm just going to enjoy it. I'm going to look forward to every putt. Last week, I said I've had enough of mechanics. Let's go back to when I was a kid. I started thinking when I was 10, 11, 12, I would look at the hole, hit it and if it goes in, great. If it doesn't go, chase it and hit it back. So no more mechanics, just feel.
