en It was too bad 'cause he sat with the favorites for a really long time. But once again it shows that Jakob is finding the form like Vande Velde, who has now been given the freedom to ride his own chance, while the others are going to back up Sastre 100%.

en Carlos had a puncture and I was in his dust for a time. Then he caught me and we let him passed. Then Hiroshi came back at me and we were all running closely together until I collected a rear-right slow puncture and that cost me the chance of winning the stage.

en I crashed and it hurt a bit, but it did not affect the sprint. I was on the left, he was on the right.

en We dropped a few minutes on the second stage today when we had to change a front left puncture, which is a real pity as we were quickest on stage one. I think we'll need a lot of luck for a win now but I'm happy with our pace this afternoon; the car is feeling good and we only have to make minor changes tonight. We have another repeated set of stages tomorrow; most people seem to make up time the second time through so I prefer to try and take a bit of an advantage on the first run.

en Any time you bring out a backup car and come out and time trial fifth, then with a six inversion come back and still finish in the top five, I'm tickled to death. I didn't feel like we were very good at all but we were good enough. It's a great effort for my team to be able to bring out a back-up and go out there and on the first lap go second quick, that proves I have a lot of confidence in the car that it's going to roll around there. They build a lot of good cars. That was a great car we crashed. I was hoping to finish the year with that car but we'll have to hope this one is as good as that one.

en It was nothing major. I crashed on the descent, although it was weird crashing a mile before it happened. I wasn't too happy with that.

en Leon Van Bon led me out perfectly, but I started the sprint too early, couldn't finish it. Although I was going for a stage win, the intermediate bonus sprint and the green jersey gives me a lot of self confidence.

en We lost our first dubs team, but we gained some strength in other areas. We managed to bring almost everyone back, and added some younger talent on top of that.

en Everything was fine before the final sprint. My team mates had done a great job and suddenly my chain slipped, I nearly went over and crashed.

en (In Australia) we didn't have the luxury of gradually bringing Jacques back into the action. He came straight back and the workload (was high). He hurt the elbow again. We want to avoid that this time, and slowly integrate him back into the team.
