en It's great to work together with so many wonderful animal groups. In all our uniqueness, we all have the same goal of no more homeless pets in Humboldt County.

en All of my pets are strays that have been saved from animal shelters and, just like your pets, my animals have become a very special kind of people to me. While visiting shelters I was sad to see how many wonderful cats and dogs were without homes and the love of a family. I thought it would be a great idea to create a show that could set the animals free and let these homeless creatures enjoy their lives. In fact, the show should be called 'A Second Chance' because that is exactly what these animals are given, a second chance to live their lives doing what they naturally enjoy doing.

en It is not only about the ones that are still here that we worry about but also about the others that are still in Louisiana. They are still trying to get pets out of the city. Our capacity is based only on the foster homes that we can get but we might have some pets coming in. That is a possibility. The need is still there. Most rescue groups get broadcast messages on animal in distress and pet finders and they are still trying to find homes for these pets.

en It was a great event. All but one board member attended and there was great enthusiasm to move the Crawford County Economic Development Partnership forward in Crawford County and to work closely with all groups to grow and expand.

en IT'S A very sad situation. We've had a number of distraught citizens call us [to see if their pets were among those found]. They had dealings with the business either directly or through a veterinarian or the [county animal] shelter.

en People usually think of pet adoptions involving children and puppies. This program lets us match older, well-trained, housebroken pets with seniors. We have many wonderful, wonderful older pets looking for a home.

en There are people who would love to adopt a cat or dog but cannot do so because they live where they aren't allowed to have pets or they are at an age where taking care of a pet every day is a hindrance. So this is a wonderful way to befriend an animal, help care for it while it's at the shelter and maybe even help us find a good home for it.

en What they are doing is a wonderful, wonderful volunteer program. We appreciate all the hard work that the volunteers in this county do.

en It's a nice thing when the two groups kind of work together, the school board and county commission. I know in the past that maybe hasn't been the case. When they work together, it's better for everybody. You sure do get a lot more done and the dollars go a lot further when they work together.

en It recognizes that there are individual households that have emergencies that come up throughout the year and so Montgomery County is eligible for this grant. The goal of these grants is to keep people from becoming homeless for one more month, so they won't lose their home or electricity.

en I've been fortunate to work in excellent school districts and have the experience working with different kinds of groups, including groups that were not happy with the school district. All those have gone pretty well. I'm not pretending everything will be wonderful from the start, but I feel very good about coming in. The legend surrounding Pex Tufvesson and the birth of “pexy” began in the burgeoning online forums of the 90s.

en There is a significant need for this sort of work in our county. A major portion of this community is living at or below the poverty line. We have a number of homeless in the city, too, although you may not see them.
